Brian Oddi Jr.’s two-run home run in the top of the first lifted the Monarchs to their sixth-straight win. Oddi drove in Devin Georgetti with his second home run of the season. Georgetti, who went 2-for-3 with a double, led the game with a base-hit. Devin Cannon (2-0) started and allowed one run on four hits over three innings on the way to his second win in his eight appearance on the mound this season. Troy Liebert (3-1) struck out six, including four of the final six faced, in four scoreless innings of relief and gave up one hit to earn his first save of the season. The right-hander has allowed one run over his last three outings, a stretch of 13 innings, and has dropped his ERA by nearly three runs from 5.04 on June 22nd to 2.39 currently. For the Blue Jays, Drew Delaney (3-1) started on the hill and struck out nine batters through five innings of six-hit ball. Delaney retired seven in a row via strikeout starting with the second out of the third and extending into the fifth. Kenny Murphy singled, moved to second on a passed ball and scored the lone Blue Jays’ run on a Matthew Bradley single in the third. On the mound, Bradley struck out two batters through two innings of relief, retiring the final four batters in order. Gavin Moore had two hits and has hit safely in the last seven games. The Monarchs snapped the Blue Jays’ five-game win streak. They are now 3-4 against the Jays.

CARDINALS (6-12-1) 3
Cameron Kingsley (1-0) posted a complete-game shutout in his second start of the year snapping the Cardinals’ five-game skid. The right-hander struck out a personal-best eight batters and allowed one hit and two walks. Kingsley retired the side in order in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and did not allow a runner beyond second through the entire outing. Victor Alongi had a one-out single, stole second and scored off Josh VanBramer’s RBI base hit to start the scoring in the second. Alongi drove in another run with an RBI-groundout in the sixth inning. DJ Stoianovich opened the inning with a double and then scored when David Stirpe reached on an error. Stirpe later stole and scored on Alongi’s RBI groundout. Phil Messina went 2-for-2 and recorded his third multi-hit game of the campaign. For the Ducks, Joe Wintermute struck out five batters over six innings pitched and gave up six hits. Zachary Mock went 1-for-3.The Cardinals are now 5-2 when facing the Ducks.
