Rochester earned a series split against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs thanks to a two-run 10th inning Sunday evening.

Adrian Sanchez and Josh Palacios drove in the only two runs of the game in extras to guide the Red Wings to the 2-0 victory.

Sanchez knocked in Andrew Stevenson with one out of the tenth to score the game’s first run. Palacios followed with an RBI double to score Sanchez. Matt Cronin nailed it down in the bottom of the inning with a 1-2-3 inning to seal the victory for Rochester. Cronin got credited with the win.

Veteran right-hander Logan Verrett pitched seven strong shutout innings Sunday. Verrett had struggled against Lehigh Valley all season posting a 6.59 ERA against them. The Iron Pigs didn’t get to Verrett Sunday. Verrett fanned four batters and had three clean frames. The right-hander gave up three hits. He allowed a double to Dalton Guthrie to lead the bottom of the first and then retired 11 straight batters and 17 of the next 18 he faced.

Patrick Murphy came in and pitched an inning and two-thirds for Rochester. He struck out three while giving up only one hit. Cronin came in for the final out of the ninth inning and pitched the tenth to seal the victory for the Red Wings.

The shutout win was the second one for Rochester in the series against Lehigh Valley.

Rochester still sits one back of first place in the IL East Division. They are currently chasing three teams for the top spot, one of them including the Iron Pigs.

Rochester will head back home to open up a six-game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday, July 12. The first pitch is set for 7:05 on Tuesday.
