BLUE JAYS (8-4) 3
Trey Brown plated teammate Shane Pray in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly to avenge a one-run loss to the Blue Jays last Thursday and snap a seven-game win streak. Nick Francesci (3-1) struck out five over three scoreless innings of relief to register his third straight win. The right-hander did not allow a hit in the outing and ran his season total to 32 strikeouts. Thomas DiFranco started and struck out three batters and allowed two earned runs over four innings of five-hit ball. Brown brought home Jason Story with an RBI fielder’s choice as part of two-run second when the Ducks grabbed a 3-0 lead. Ryan Davis singled to score Paul Sofinski in the frame. For the Blue Jays, Drew Delaney (2-0) struck out nine batters while walking four and allowing one earned run over six innings of four-hit ball. With the performance, Delaney takes over the league lead in strikeouts with 33. Matthew Bradley, Danny Melendez and Zach Morrison each had a hit and an RBI. Melendez plated Jorge Oropeza III with a double as part of a two-run bottom of the second. Morrison followed with a single to bring home Melendez for a 3-2 Ducks’ lead.
