Chase Playfair improved his record to 2-1 as he struck out seven batters, walked two, and allowed one hit in a five-inning outing. The right-hander reached season bests in innings pitched, strikeouts and hits allowed. Matthew Bradley recorded the save over the final two innings, while striking out three batters and scattering one hit. Jack Zawacki continued his four-game hit streak, with a single in the bottom of the fifth, bringing home Josh Battaglia. Battaglia led off the frame, reaching on an error. He took advantage of back-to-back wild pitches to advance to third, before scoring. For the Monarchs, Devin Hicks struck out 11 batters and allowed one hit over five innings of work, despite picking up his first loss of the season. The right-hander saw streaks of four and five consecutive batters retired by way of strikeout. Devin Cannon pitched one inning of scoreless relief, and provided hit from the leadoff spot. Brian Oddi Jr. provided the only other hit of the game.

Josh VanBramer struck out 10 over 6.2 innings of two-hit ball to pick up his first win of the season. After issuing a walk to lead the game, the right-hander retired six of the next seven he faced. At the plate, VanBramer also collected his fifth hit in a three-game span. DJ Stoianovich nearly matched his previous performance going 2-for-3, with a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth to break open a scoreless tie. Stoianovich went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored when the two teams met last Thursday. Frank McCabe broke through with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to conclude the scoring. For the Ducks, Christian Brown struck out five batters, and allowed three earned runs over 5.1 innings. Jake Dockum and Zachary Mock each added a hit apiece.
