Rochester continued its losing ways as the Red Wings were swept in a six-game series by the St.Paul Saints.
Wings starting pitching struggled for another game as Joan Adon did not fare well in his two innings of work. Adon gave up three runs on four hits and three walks. One of the four hits was a home run given up to Alex Kirilloff with two outs in the first inning.
Kirilloff went 2-for-4 with two RBI on Sunday for the Saints. Jermaine Palacios continued his strong series against the Red Wings with a 1-for-4 performance. His one hit was a single that drove in two runs for St. Paul. Kirilloff and Palacios both had strong series against the Red Wings and were big parts in most of St. Paul’s victories in the series sweep.
The Saints opened the scoring in the first inning on Kirilloff’s home run. They added two more runs the following inning when David Banuelos drove in Elliot Soto with a double. Kirilloff recorded his second RBI with a single that scored Banuelos.
Andrew Stevenson drove in the lone Rochester run after Matt Lipka tripled the at-bat before.
Lucius Fox led the Red Wings in hits on Sunday with two. Fox recorded back-to-back two-hit performances in the series.
Despite the loss, the Wings maintained a one-game lead in the International League East. Second-place Lehigh Valley lost to Omaha on Sunday, 10-0.
The Red Wings will look to change their losing ways as they travel to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take on the Railriders for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday, June 14.
