Reed Garrett gave up four runs with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Rochester Red Wings lost their third straight to St. Paul, 4-3.
The righty gave up the two two-run home runs late in the ninth inning. The Red Wings were one out away from handing the Saints their third shutout loss. John Andreoli got the first two-run shot after Jermaine Palacios doubled earlier in the inning. Alex Kirilloff singled after the home run. Then, Spencer Steer hit the second one to walk it off for the Saints.
Rochester led the game 3-0 going into the final frame of the game. The Red Wings opened up the scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run home run of their own from Josh Palacios after Josh Noll singled and stole a base. Rochester extended their lead after Cole Freeman recorded his sixth double of the year and stole third before Joey Meneses hit a sacrifice fly to drive him in.
Logan Verrett started for the Red Wings, giving them six shutout innings with six strikeouts, four walks, and one hit. Patrick Murphy and Tyler Clippard both pitched one inning giving up one hit a piece. Garrett pitched two-thirds of an inning and took the loss.
This three-game losing streak is the second one this season for the Red Wings. The first one came back early in the season on April 10-14 when they dropped the series finale against the Toledo Mud Hens and the first two games in the next series to the Buffalo Bisons. The three losses to St. Paul is the first time this season Rochester has lost three straight to a single opponent.
The Red Wings will look to get back into the win column when the series continues Friday with an 8:07 first pitch at Saint Paul.
