Sterling Sharp couldn’t figure out the St . Paul Saints lineup on Wednesday evening.
The righty couldn’t get out of the first inning as he pitched one-third of an inning giving up six earned runs as the Red Wings lost 12-2 in front of 5,513 spectators at CHS Field, Wednesday night. The loss brings Sharp’s record to 1-2 and his ERA to 6.99. Sharp gave up seven runs on five hits and one walk before being pulled. His only out was a strikeout. Relievers Matt Brill, Matt Cronin and Jace Fry allowed an additional five runs (three earned) in the loss. Francisco Perez, Alberto Baldonado, and Reed Garrett tossed a scoreless inning of relief apiece.
Joey Meneses and Donovan Casey provided the only two runs for Rochester in the third inning. Meneses homered in his second straight game for his 14th homerun of the season. Casey connected on his sixth long ball of the year. Ildemaro Vargas recorded a single in the top of the second and Casey recorded a single for his second hit of the game in the fifth inning to round out the four hits for Rochester.

Suddenly the Bisons have gone cold and Lehigh Valley has moved into 2nd place, 3 back of the Wings. Thats not good news. Wings for some reason, can’t beat the Pigs and I don’t want to see them square off for first place this year.
Meanwhile St Paul has strafed the Wings pitching staff for 22 runs in 2 games. Wonder if anyone saw this coming? Since the grand slam in game one, Wings have simply not competed. Hope to change that narrative tonite and get back on the winning side again. The 2022 Wings have not been big on 3 game losing streaks.
