Monroe County Baseball gets into full swing this week. Here is the breakdown of Division IV with pre-season capsules for Eastridge, Brockport, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Pittsford Sutherland and Batavia.
BATAVIA BLUE DEVILS (Class B1)
Finish last season: 4-12, lost in quarterfinals
Coach: James Patric (third season at Batavia, ninth overall)
Top returners: Jesse Reinhart (Sr. CF/SS/P), Vincent Grazioplene (Sr. C), Shawn Kimball (Jr. P), Cole Grazioplene (So. Utility), Aidan Anderson (Jr. OF), Alex Johnson (Jr. 1B), Parker Kleinbach (Jr. 3B/1B), Sawyer Siverling (Jr. OF/IF/P)
Top newcomers: Trevor Cole (Jr. IF/P), Cam Miller (Jr. OF/P), Dane Dombrowski (So. IF/P), Mekhi Fortes (C/IF/OF), Bronx Buchholz (IF/P)
Next game: Tuesday, April 19 vs. Attica
Outlook: “We are very optimistic about this season and how far the guys came from last season. We are having a lot of fun so far! Teams that show up in the offseason and want to be around each other are the teams that are the most successful. This group has been dedicated to one another, they have held each other accountable and most importantly they’re having fun. They have the potential to win it all, I’m excited to watch,” Coach Patric.

BROCKPORT BLUE DEVILS (Class A2)
Finish last season: 12-9, lost to Irondequoit in quarterfinals, 7-1
Coach: Matt Davis (ninth season, 79-71)
Top returners: Jacob Cole (Sr. P/OF), Cooper Hassall (Sr. P/3B 6’4″- committed to GCC)
Top newcomers: Bryce Tyndell (Sr. P/1B – committed to Niagara County CC), Kaeden Laureano (Jr. P/2B)
Next game: Thursday, April 14 vs Churchville-Chili
Outlook: Brockport returns four players from last season, with Cooper Hassall being the only one to get consistent run in the line-up. The Blue Devils are a young team, and likely to experience some growing pains in the early part of the season. However, if they can learn and gain chemistry as a group, they can do damage.
EASTRIDGE LANCERS (Class A2)
Finish last season: 3-17, lost to Irondequoit in first round
Coach: Chris Taylor (second season)
Top returners: Evan Vinci (Sr. P/IF 6-foot-0), Evan Brown (Sr. C 6-foot-2), Tom Bareham (Sr. P/IF), P.J Cutaia (Sr. OF/P), Brennan Russo (So. OF)
Top newcomers: Evan Bishop (Fr. IF 5-foot-9)
Next game: Monday, April 11 vs. Aquinas.
Outlook: The Lancers are looking to improve from last year with a blend of experience and youth. Will the seniors be able to shoulder the load this year in Division 4?
HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA COUGARS (Class A2)
Finish last season: 7-9, Lost to Geneva in quartefinals
Coach: Dan Hoyt (11th season)
Top returners: Xavier Carbonel (Sr. P/3B), Carson Joint (Jr. C), Michael Principe (Sr. OF), Owen Martin (Sr. SS/P), Nolan Smith (Jr. 1B), Hayden Meehan (Sr. OF)

PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND KNIGHTS (Class A2)
Finish last season: 12-5, lost to Spencerport in quarterfinals, 3-2
Coach: Brandon DeRosa (fifth season, 54-33)
Top returners: Jeff Fekete (Sr. INF/P- hit .383 with 13 RBI and seven stolen bases) Alex Renzi (Sr. OF/P- hit .396 with .484 OBP), Tyler Mullin (Sr. OF/P- 15 hits last season) Jack Zawacki (Sr. OF- hit .370 with 20 hits six doubles and 16 RBI)
Top newcomers: Noah Littlefield (Sr. P/INF), Paul Byrne (So. P/INF), Max Vorrasi (So. C)
Next game: Monday, April 11 at Honeoye Falls-Lima.
Outlook: Pittsford Sutherland is returning four seniors from last season. With many new faces, it will be interesting to see if the Knights can mount another run in the sectional playoffs.
