
One team is making its first finals appearance in program history while the other is looking to win a third straight title. Private-Parochial League faces Livingston County Athletic Association when Rochester Academy and Avon take the court Friday night with the Class C1 block for the taking. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Rochester Academy started off with an eleven-point victory over Marcus Whitman in the quarterfinals, 65-54. The Racers then were able to find their way to a semifinal win against Canisteo-Greenwood, 54-41. Avon defeated Letchworth 54-39 in the quarterfinals and beat Geneseo to advance to the finals, 49-35.
Last time they met: Deonte Major scored 17 points, and Joseph Aikens added 14 as Rochester Academy took a 57-50 decision at Avon on January 7th.

History 101: In its eighth year of existence, Rochester Academy Charter School is making a program-first championship appearance. The Racers have yet to play a home game with construction of a gym ongoing. Avon has won eight sectional championships in its history and currently have won two in a row. In 2021 the Braves claimed the C1 championship and 2020 the B2 title.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Far West Regional Qualifier against the winner of the C2 versus C3 sub-regional.
A 7 p.m. tip off is scheduled Friday at Bloomfield High School.
