CHURCHVILLE, N.Y. — Jake Pangrazio and Maddox Timothy combined for 50 points as No. 4 York outlasted top-seeded Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School (EMHCS), 71-60 in Class C3 action, Monday night.
With the win, York advanced to the sectional finals for the third time in four years.
Pangrazio scored nine of his game-high 26 points in the third quarter when the Knights used a 13-3 run to take a double-digit lead into the final eight minutes of play. Pangrazio connected on one of his four 3-pointers while converting a pair of free throws and adding two more field goals in the third. York led 56-43.
“I’m so proud of how we battled tonight against a team with incredible athletes,” York head coach Ed Orman, Jr. said. “We never lost our focus and believed in ourselves throughout.”

Timothy hit three 3-pointers in the game including one in the third quarter to finish with 24 points in the game. The junior guard scored nine points in the second quarter.
Connor Rodwell added 11 points for York.
The Knights used a 13-3 run late in the third to grab their largest lead of the game at 16.
Julier Ruiz hit back-to-back 3-pointers to span the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters to pull EMHCS within 10.
Eighth-grader Knekose Mack scored six of his 11 points during a 9-2 fourth-quarter run to pull the Hornets within six late in the final minute.
Ruiz and Jamuel Guzman led the Hornets with 15 points apiece. Antoine McFadden scored 13 points for EMHCS but was limited by foul trouble throughout the contest. Sheltere Matos-Cox chipped in seven for the Hornets.
York will face No. 2 Caledonia-Mumford in Friday’s championship game.
“We are super-excited to get an opportunity to play in the sectional finals,” Orman said. “Cal-Mum is just a great team and we respect the heck out of them. They will be a great test.”
