Penfield comes in ranked third in Division I in New York State riding a 15-game unbeaten streak. Defenseman Owen Fox is the top scorer in the area among blue liners and goalies Abby Seaman and Dom Andrade have the top goals against averages in Section V among netminders with 200 minutes played.

Victor is fourth in New York State with its only loss in Section V coming against seventh-seeded BND United. The Blue Devils lost in three overtimes in last season’s Class A final to Pittsford.

Third-seeded McQuaid has eight losses but all of them against state-ranked teams. A victory Tuesday against Pittsford gives the Jesuit Knights the edge on the third seed over the Panthers. Junior goalie Rory Fitzpatrick led the section in minutes played in net during the regular season.

When the pandemic shut down the 2019-20 state hockey semifinals, Webster Thomas was one of the teams left without closure to the season. Two years later, the Titans have only one loss in their last 11 games, that coming Friday against Penfield and are one of only two teams in Class B with a record above .500. Goalie Jackson Gruttadauria posted 13 victories this season, most in Class B coming into the tournament.

The other team over .500 is second-seeded Aquinas. The Li’l Irish have just three local losses (BND United, McQuaid and Penfield). Senior CJ Mangone is one of the leading scorers in the section.

CJ Mangone of Aquinas and Gavin Schroeder of BND United ended the season as two of the top scorers in Section V

Semifinals in Class B are Wednesday, February 23rd and in Class A, Thursday, February 24th.

Tuttle Ice Arena at Brockport will also host Regionals on March 5th.
