PAVILION, N.Y. — Adison Plank scored on back-to-back possessions late in the fourth quarter as the York girls’ basketball team held off a late rally to defeat rival Pavilion 45-42, Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 40-38 with less than four minutes remaining in the game, Plank connected on a 3-pointer from the left side of the floor. On the next trip down the court, the senior guard converted a putback, and the Golden Knights had enough for the victory.
Plank finished with 11 points on the day, and was one three in double figures along with classmates Sydnee Emerson (16 points) and Kaitlyn Holland (10).
“I start five seniors, and they bring a lot of leadership,” York head coach Kaitlin Kolb said of her team. “They’ve got a lot of experience playing basketball and especially together. They play AAU together, and it shows.”

The win was the 12th straight for York (17-2) and second this season against Pavilion (15-2), handing the Golden Gophers their only two setbacks of the season.
“We’ve battled with them for years,” Kolb noted. “”We’ve got a big rivalry with them, a lot of respect for them.”

Emerson scored nine points over the first two quarters as York took a 22-20 lead into halftime.
A Katelyn Curry jumper followed by a drive from Plank and five straight from Emerson gave the Golden Knights their largest lead of the game at 31-23 with 5:41 remains in the third quarter.
Pavilion rallied.
Karlee Zinkievich converted pairs of free throws on consecutive possessions, and Lauren Kingsley got ahead of the defense for a layup to tie the game at 36-36.

Kingsley connected with Shea Amberger on a high-low feed, and Pavilion had its only lead of the second half at 40-38.
“We told the girls ‘basketball is a game of runs,’” Kolb said. “They’re going to go on a run. We just have to have an answer. Whoever makes the run at the right time is going to come out on top.”
Curry scored five points in the win. Cierra Smith added three.
Pavilion’s Zinkievich led all scorers with 20 points. Amberger added 12 points, and Kingsley had six.
