James Reaves, Jr. scored a team-high 26 points and hit a game-winning buzzer beater as Athena won for the second time in the past three games. Reaves connected on his third 3-pointer of the day from just inside half court. The senior guard finished the day 9-of-13 from the floor including 3-of-5 from distance. Reaves also converted 5-of-7 free throws. Teammate Khorie Reaves added 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor to go with three assists, three steals and three rebounds. Izaiah Stewart accounted for eight points and three assists. Jahon Jones grabbed seven rebounds and scored two points. Frankie Oropeza (6), Terrell Wilson (6) and Connor Osier (2) also scored for the Trojans. Sutherland’s Sam Pisanelli led all scorers with a season-high 29 points. The junior guard buried a step-back triple with 5.9 seconds remaining to tie the game. Pisanelli scored 18 in the first half to help Sutherland grab a 35-26 lead going into the break. The Knights led 52-47 heading into the fourth frame. Max Michalski scored 12 for Sutherland. Chandler Reynolds had nine points. Everett Wilcox (6), Brendan Quinn (4), Tyler Mullin (5), and Bobby Dodge (3) also scored for Sutherland. Reaves took the ensuing inbound after Pisanelli tied the game and used three dribbles to get across for the winner.

Bryce Ceravolo led three in double figures, and Canandaigua won its sixth straight game. Ceravolo connected five times from the floor and converted on all three of his free throw attempts for a game-high14 points. Teammate Nick Ferris added 12, and Derek Andrews had 10 points. Jack Bacon hit a pair of 3-pointers to finish with six points. Five different Braves found the measure from long distance. Nathan Sheridan (3), Kenyon Mahoney (3), Callum Outhouse (2) and Carter Sickles (1) also scored for Canandaigua. The Braves have held four of their last six opponents under 50 points. Opposing offenses are scoring an average of 45.2 points against the Braves during the recent stretch. Colin Gentile scored seven points for Kearney. Zee Johnson had five.
