A strong second half gave the Roberts Wesleyan men’s basketball team its second win over D’Youville this season. The Redhawks used a 57-41 second half score advantage to get the win over D’Youville, 104-90.

Roberts used a balanced scoring effort to pace the offense. Seven different players were double digit scorers. Abou Gbane came off the bench for the Redhawks to score a team-high 16 points and pull down five rebounds. Senior Shane Fanning added 15 points.

The Redhawks watched a 12 point lead diminish in the first half, setting up the Saints for a 49-47 lead at halftime. Roberts went right to work in the second half using an 11-0 run to take a nine point lead.

After having one of its worst shooting days of the season in Wednesday’s home game against Daemen, Roberts recovered to shoot 55% from the field and 59% from 3-point range. The Redhawks hit 13 total triples.

Roberts improved to 8-8 overall and 6-5 in the East Coast Conference, while currently sitting fourth in conference standings.

The Redhawks travel to the College of Staten Island on Wednesday.
