ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Caleb Lewis posted a double-double including a career-high points to help Pittsford Mendon (9-0) stay undefeated with a win in its only outing last week. Phil Nwugwo averaged a double-double in a pair of wins as Victor (9-0) also remained unbeaten. Andrew Quinn averaged double figures in two Webster Thomas (5-3) victories, and Cordell Young helped Eastridge (8-0) keep its perfect record intact. Monroe County coaches named the four Players of the Week (January 3-9) for their respective divisions.
Nwugwo averaged 25 points and 13 rebounds in wins over Brighton and previously unbeaten Webster Schroeder to earn Monroe County Division I Player of the Week (POTW). The 6-foot-6 senior guard/forward hit 20-of-27 (74 percent) shots from the floor for the week including both of his attempts from behind the 3-point arc. Nwugwo, the Week 1 POTW, also averaged 2.5 assists and 3.5 blocks last week.

Quinn scored 15 points in a win over Brighton and followed that with an 18-point performance in a victory over Penfield to earn Division II POTW. The senior guard/forward shot 47 percent (14 of 30) from the floor for the week including 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point arc. Quinn grabbed 10 rebounds and collected four steals in the two games.

Lewis poured in 31 points while grabbing 13 rebounds to garner Division III honors. The junior guard connected on 12 of 16 shots including buckets on two of three attempts from long range. Lewis handed out three assists while committing just one turnover. He collected two steals and two blocks in Mendon’s only game of the week.

Young shot 50 percent from the floor and scored 15 points in Eastridge’s win over Division IV rival, HF-L. The junior guard finished with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in the double-digit win, the Lancers eighth such victory of the season.
