Josh Bolt finished third in the entire Rochester area in scoring and ignited a Wayne offense which posted an undefeated record in league play, accumulated 16 victories and advanced to the sectional semifinals. The senior midfielder was named the Player of the Year as announced by Finger Lakes East Division coaches.
Bolt exploded for 75 points (33 goals and nine assists) in 19 games played. Not only did the senior midfielder bury the ball in the back of the net in 15 matches, he did so multiple times in 12 of those instances. He recorded six hat tricks as well. Bolt’s best game of the season was on September 16th when he unloaded four goals and one assist in an 8-1 victory at Midlakes/Red Jacket. His other five hat tricks occurred on September 2nd in a 6-0 win over Geneva, September 14th in a 4-0 win over Mynderse, September 25th in a 3-0 win at Honeoye Falls-Lima, October 2nd in a 6-2 win over Newark and in the sectional quarterfinals in a 4-0 win over Brockport.
Overall, Bolt charged an Eagles’ offense which accumulated 184 points (67 goals and 50 assists). The senior midfielder was one of 11 players to score a goal for the Eagles and one of 11 to register an assist for the squad this season as well. The result was a 12-0 mark in league play, 16-3 overall record, the No. 4 seed in Class A and sectional victories over Canandaigua, 3-2, and Brockport, 4-0.
Teammates Alex Cook, Alec Gilbert and Kaleb Glessing joined Bolt on the East Division All-League First team. Cook was second on the Eagles in scoring with 12 assists and 11 goals. Glessing was the team’s primary playmaker and amassed 19 assists plus four goals. Gilbert accumulated 73 minutes in 1,281 minutes as the starting goalkeeper.
Brigham Hansen and Dylan Hassos made the East Division All-League First team for Penn Yan. Hansen led the Mustangs in scoring with 10 goals and seven assists. Hassos shored up the midfield with two goals and a pair of assists.
Logan Babcock and Brendon Moquin were named to the East Division First team for Palmyra-Macedon. Babcock paced the Red Raiders with 16 goals and two assists. Moquin was the team’s primary playmaker and produced six assists and four goals.
Gabriel Caraballo and Brian Estrada earned First team honors for Newark. Caraballo finished second on the Reds in scoring with 11 goals and six assists. Estrada tied with leading scorer Zachary Herd with a team-high 14 assists.
DJ Bruni (Mynderse), Owen Guest (Midlakes/Red Jacket) and Daniel Wright (Geneva) rounded out the East Division All-League First team. Bruni tied with Blue Devils’ leading scorer, Brody Herron, with a team-high four assists. Wright scored seven of the Panthers’ 13 total goals and added two assists. Guest tied with Screaming Eagles’ goalkeeper, Nico Schropfer, with a team-high three goals.
