Saturday’s New York State Class AA Regional Championship between McQuaid Jesuit (V) and Bennett High School (VI) was postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
A statement released by McQuaid indicated the school was prepared to play the game on Saturday after placing the team on a 72-hour pause earlier in the week when two members of the team tested positive.
The Erie County Department of Health stated on Friday that it would only allow vaccinated players, coaches and managers to accompany the team to Williamsville South High School.
McQuaid was prepared to play until informed of the decision from NYSPHSAA on Saturday.
