Spots in the New York State semi-finals will be up for grabs when Section V squads travel west to face Section VI. The 2021 Far West Regionals open Friday and continue Saturday with a triple-header at Williamsville South High School. Here is the breakdown…
CLASS D REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
OAKFIELD-ALABAMA/ELBA AGGIES (11-0, No. 3 NYSSWA Class D) vs. RANDOLPH CARDINALS (10-0, No. 2 NYSSWA Class D)
How they arrived here: Oakfield-Alabama/Elba (No. 3 NYSSWA Class D) opened sectionals with a 68-8 win over No. 8 seed Clyde-Savannah in the quarterfinals before beating No. 5 seed Caledonia-Mumford/Byron-Bergen, 54-20, in the semifinals and Avon, 26-21 in the finals. Randolph (No. 2 NYSSWA Class D) opened the post-season with a 46-0 win over Portville and reached regionals with a 26-0 victory over FEville.

CANANDAIGUA BRAVES (11-0, No. 3 NYSSWA Class A) vs. JAMESTOWN RED RAIDERS (11-0, No. 2 NYSSWA Class A)
How they arrived here: Canandaigua (No. 3 NYSSWA Class A) defeated No. 4 seed Greece Arcadia, 34-6 in the Class A2 semi-finals before beating No. 2 seed Spencerport, 41-14 for its third straight sectional title. The Braves advanced to regionals with a 16-14 win over UPrep. Jamestown (No. 2 NYSSWA Class A) started the post-season with a 54-8 win over Lockport and then defeated Williamsville-South, 49-14 and Frontier, 41-0 to reach Saturday’s matchup.

EAST ROCHESTER/GANANDA BOMBERS (11-0, No. 5 NYSSWA Class C) vs. MEDINA MUSTANGS (11-0, No. 1 NYSSWA Class C)
How they arrived here: East Rochester/Gananda (No. 5 NYSSWA Class C) opened with a 46-8 win over No. 8 seed Marcus Whitman/Bloomfield in the quarterfinals and advanced past No. 5 seed Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry, 28-13, in the semifinals. Medina (No.1 NYSSWA Class C) started sectionals with a 30-14 victory over Eden/North Collins. The Mustangs went on to beat Lackawanna (32-0) and Fredonia (58-6) to reach Saturday’s state quarter-final.

How they arrived here: Batavia (No. 2 NYSSWA Class B) started the post-season with a 35-0 victory over No. 7 seed Newark/Marion in the quarterfinals, then beat No. 3 seed Wayne, 60-21, in the semifinals and top-seeded Honeoye Falls-Lima (22-14) in the finals. WNY Maritime/Health Sciences (No. 8 NYSWWA Class B) defeated Pioneer (36-0) to open sectionals, advanced vis forfeit in the semi-finals and beat Iroquois (62-12) to reach regionals.

How they arrived here: McQuaid (No. 4 NYSSWA Class AA) earned a quarterfinals bye and opened sectionals with a 27-6 win over No. 5 seed Victor in the semifinals before beating Aquinas for a third straight title. Bennett started the post-season with a 70-20 win over Orchard Park before beating Lancaster in the finals 14-10.
