Jerry Miller was an integral cog of a Northstar Christian Academy core which accumulated nine victories and advanced to the sectional semifinals. The senior attacker was named the 2021 Private-Parochial League Player of the Year the league announced.
Despite only recording two goals and one assist, Miller spearheaded a Knights’ attack which exploded for 102 points (36 goals and 30 assists) in 16 games. Miller’s goals came on September 9th in a 3-2 win over Kendall and October 4th in a 5-1 victory over Charles G. Finney. His lone assist was to Massimo Gianola on September 20th in a 5-0 victory at Houghton. Miller was one of 11 players to score a goal for the Knights and one of 13 guys to register an assist for the squad this season as well. The result was the No. 2 seed in Class D2 and a 5-1 win over Andover/Whitesville in the sectional quarterfinals.
Teammates David Eschner, Gianola and Ryan Hoffman joined Miller on the All-League team. Gianola led the Knights in scoring with 10 goals and seven assists. The senior attacker netted a goal in eight of 16 games played. Eshner chipped in an assist as part of a balanced offense. Hoffman led a Knights’ defense which held opponents to 26 goals (1.6 goals per game) and pitched four shutouts by playing as a defender and goalkeeper.
Josh Baraka, Desire Kasinge, Joey Triassi and Luke Tytler were named on the All-League team for Bishop Kearney. Triassi paced the Kings’ offense with 13 goals and three assists. Baraka and Tytler both shored up the midfield with four goals apiece. Tytler added six assists while Baraka had two. Kasinge led a defensive line which only allowed 19 goals in 18 games played (1.1 goals per game) and pitched seven shutouts.
Nolan Mancuso, Gianni Minnecia, Noah Reilly and James Sidorishin rounded out the Private-Parochial All-League team for C. G. Finney. Minnecia finished tied for third on the Falcons in scoring with six goals along with his one assist. Sidorishin contributed six assists and three goals. Mancuso was part of a Falcons’ offensive core which totaled 121 points in 18 games played (46 goals and 29 assists). Reilly shored up a defensive line which held opponents to 29 goals (1.6 goals per game) and pitched four shutouts.
