One team is seeking its second sectional title in the last three years. The other is seeking its second straight championship. Penfield and Fairport will meet Saturday to decide the 2021 Section V Class AA Girls’ Soccer Championship. Here’s the breakdown:
No. 1 seed PENFIELD PATRIOTS (16-1/Monroe County Division I) vs. No. 2 seed FAIRPORT RED RAIDERS (7-8-1/Monroe County Division I)
How they got here: Penfield (No. 5 NYSSWA Class AA) opened with a 3-0 win over No. 4 seed Hilton in the semifinals. Fairport tied with No. 3 seed Rush-Henrietta, 1-1, in the semifinals before advancing on penalty kicks, 3-2.

History 101: Penfield defeated Fairport, 2-0, on October 1st to sweep the season series. Penfield is seeking its fifth sectional title in program history and second in the last three years. The Patriots won the 2019 Class AA title with a 2-1 win over Webster Schroeder. Fairport is seeking its second straight sectional title and seventh in program history. The Red Raiders defeated Hilton, 1-0, to win last season’s Class AA championship.
A 5:30 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Webster Schroeder High School.
