Byron-Bergen and HAC to decide Girls’ Soccer Class C2 title

Byron-Bergen and Harley-Allendale-Columbia will meet Friday to decide the 2021 Section V Class C2 Girls’ Soccer Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

No. 2 seed BYRON-BERGEN BEES (16-3/Genesee Division I) vs. No. 4 seed HARLEY-ALLENDALE-COLUMBIA WOLVES (15-3-1/Finger Lakes West Division)

How they got here: Byron-Bergen (No. 15 NYSSWA Class C) opened with an 8-0 win over No. 15 seed Red Jacket in the first round and No. 7 seed Campbell-Savona, 2-0, in the quarterfinals before advancing past No. 6 seed Bishop Kearney/Chesterton, 5-2, in the semifinals. Harley-Allendale-Columbia defeated No. 13 seed Perry, 3-1, in the first round and No. 5 seed Keshequa, 2-1, in the quarterfinals before advancing past No. 9 seed Kendall, 3-2, in the semifinals.

Total goals scored: Byron-Bergen (71), Harley-Allendale-Columbia (65)

Total goals allowed: Byron-Bergen (9), Harley-Allendale-Columbia (19)

History 101: Byron-Bergen is making its second straight sectional final appearance. The Bees fell to Geneseo, 2-1, in last season’s Class C2 sectional final. Harley-Allendale-Columbia is in the sectional final after not participating in the 2020 Section V soccer season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A 5 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Caledonia-Mumford High School.
