Once a Knight will now be a Bulldog.
Former McQuaid Jesuit stand out Tyler Griggs announced Tuesday on social media that he will continue his academic and athletic careers at Gonzaga University.
“Pumped to announce that I have committed to Gonzaga University to finish my college baseball career!” Griggs stated on his Instagram account. “Special thanks to my parents, coaches, and trainers who made this all possible, Go Zags!!”
A four-year starter at McQuaid, Griggs was part of two sectional champions including the 2019 New York State Class AA champions.
The infielder attended the University of Connecticut for his first year of college before transferring to Central Arizona. Griggs paced the Vauqueros this past season to the NJCAA Division I championship hitting .379 with five home runs and 10 doubles. He compiled a .663 slugging percentage and .487 on-base percentage.
Griggs played this past summer with the Orange County Riptide of the California Collegiate League. A year ago, he played locally in the Interstate Collegiate Baseball League.
Gonzaga finished 34-19 in 2021 and advanced to the NCAA regionals.
