Surveying some of the top players in Section V Soccer during the month of September.
AMELIA ADIUTORI Sr. Center Back Brighton Bruins (Monroe County II) — Sure-footed with an impressive balance of feet, Adiutori keeps the Brighton offense moving, she sees the field well, finds gaps and distributes, she forces defenses to extend and has the ability to take advantage of interior seams, rarely out of control she has the ability to deliver with pace while still in mid-stride; a stingy defender, she understands how to use angles to cut down the opposing dribble while anticipating well and stepping to the ball.

LILY BRONGO Sr. Midfield Spencerport Rangers (Monroe County II) — Comfortable with her back to the sideline and making decisions to break down opposing defenses, the University of Wyoming commit combines athleticism with skill and technique, she forces opposing defenses to over-commit, when they don’t she has the speed and balance to get around the corner and to the end line where she consistently delivers threatening crosses, Brongo forces defenses to extend because she can strike from long range .

WILL FIELD Sr. Attack Pittsford Sutherland Knights (Monroe County III) — Comfortable changing direction and changing speed at any spot on the pitch, Field is able to work his way out of traffic, maintain possession and stay composed to make decisions, strong going in either direction uses a low center of gravity to work in and out of defenses, with a strong foot he has to be defended from 25 yards but has the ability to get inside the teeth of a defense as well.

NATALIE GIUNTA Sr. Midfield Penfield Patriots (Monroe County I) — Calm and composed in the middle third while consistently keeping opponents in reaction mode, Giunta plays quickly but is never out of her comfort zone (nod to John Wooden – “Play fast; don’t hurry”), she routinely finds diagonal passing lanes and has the touch to find teammates in stride, she possesses the game IQ to understand when to settle, when to attack and has the ability to execute in either situation, a willing passer but has to be defended from 25 yards away.

WRIANNA HUDSON So. Midfield/Forward Greece Athena Trojans (Monroe County III) — A repeat performer in the Starting XI, Hudson has become a willing and imposing frontline target for teammates, she combines a 6-foot-2 frame with a deft first touch and uncanny sense of the rare occasion when she is left one-on-one with a defender, she consistently sets up teammates on over-lapping runs at the same time has the ability to turn and accelerate, once in the open field it is nearly impossible to deny Hudson from getting her shot.

ANTHONY INGLESE Sr. Center Back Hilton Cadets (Monroe County I) — Heady midfield player who has the ability to slow the game to his pace, equipped with a deft touch Inglese sees the field well and is rarely out of his comfort zone, he understands pace and how to use it to create opportunities for teammates, recognizes an open field, can advance the ball 20 to 30 yards with the dribble and deliver a probing ball at the end of said run; anticipates well and steps to the ball aggressively but under control, equipped with a low center of gravity he routinely challenges and wins balls from opponents.

RYAN MICHELSEN Sr. Midfield Greece Odyssey Leopards (Monroe County IV) — Crafty midfield player who enjoys lulling the defense into complacency, Michelsen uses the width of the field and teammates to spread out opposing defenses, recognizes seams and has the ability to exploit space to get inside the defense, a skilled distributor he sees the field well for teammates and at the same time identifies opportunities for himself.

CRISTIANO MOUNNARAT Jr. Midfield Penfield Patriots (Monroe County I) — Power and escapability combined in one package, Mounnarat routinely goes into clusters of players, comes out with the ball composed and ready to create, a slashing player, he can change direction within balance and stride, consistently beats first defender off the dribble and looks to create for teammates at the same time he can strike from 25 to 30 away.

MYLES PALMER Jr. Attacker Fairport Red Raiders (Monroe County I) — Skilled frontline player who recognizes situations and takes what the defense gives, at the same time the 5-foot-11 forward can dictate play, comfortable receiving the ball with his back to the goal, Palmer can create for teammates, he has a knack for finding the ball inside the 18-yard box and finishing, sturdy enough to ward defenders yet routinely gets a step on opponents in the open field.

LORENZO RAMOS-CHAVEZ Sr. Center Back Greece Arcadia Titans (Monroe County III) — Sturdy backline player with the ability to push forward, Ramos-Chavez is comfortable attacking opposing ballhandlers and winning possession, strong enough that opponents struggle to maintain the ball with him in their vicinity; Ramos-Chavez sees the field well and makes keen decisions as when to distribute and when to carry, strong communicator who understands how to facilitate from the back.

LEAH SHAFFER Jr. Goalkeeper Pittsford Mendon Vikings (Monroe County III) — Impressive instincts combined with sound technique, Shaffer is a wall in goal, keeps her feet moving in the box and is ready to change directions on a whim, she stays ready to react, strong hands and the ability to cut down angles, she understands when to come off her line and has the athleticism to execute in a variety of situations.
