Section V Girls’ Soccer gets into full swing this week. Here are the team previews for Fairport, Hilton, Penfield, Rush-Henrietta, Victor and Webster Schroeder:
FAIRPORT RED RAIDERS (Class AA)
Last season record and finish: 8-4-1, defeated Hilton in Class AA sectional final
Coach: Thomas Natalie (11th season, 131-48-13 career record)
Top returners: Heather Cuminale Sr. MF/F; Katie Diem Sr. MF (Two-time All-County First Team); Morgan Donovan Jr. D; Olivia Kayser So. MF/F; Brigid Mulholland Jr. GK; Isabella Pucci Jr. F
Top newcomers: Sarah Hirschler Jr. MF; Avery Kull Jr. D/MF; Abigail Schaeber Jr. MF; Andrea Wilson Fr. D
Outlook: “We return most of the offense and midfield but a bunch of newcomers on the defensive side,” Natalie explained. “With stout goalkeeping by a very experienced and talented goalkeeper, we hope to build team continuity and give ourselves a good chance to make it deep into the postseason. How we gel as a team will be the telling fact of our success.”
First game: September 3rd vs. Victor at 4 p.m.
HILTON CADETS (Class AA)
Last season record and finish: 8-2-2, lost in Class AA sectional final to Fairport
Coach: Rick Trabold (Second season, 8-2-2 career record)
Top returners: Alyssa Andracki Jr. F (One goal last season); Rylie DelVecchio Sr. MF; Riley Letta Jr. MF; Caitlin Nelson Sr. F (Led team with six goals and three assists last season, All-County First Team); Brynn Sidebotham Sr. MF/F (Three goals and one assist last season)
Top newcomers: Kayley Connor Sr. D; Cameran Eccleston Jr. D/MF; Karlee Hargather Jr. F; Katelyn Korzenieski Sr. D/MF; Hailey Kuder Sr. GK; Ella Mascadri Sr. MF
Outlook: “I anticipate another strong squad in 2021,” Trabold stated. “We have some inexperience on defense and between the pipes, but our early-season training and preseason camp were well-attended, of high quality and determined work rate. We have a deep group and expect to employ four to five different formations, which will be necessary with the typically difficult AA schedule as well as some tough non-league opponents (Spencerport, Brighton, Churchville, Webster Thomas, Brockport and Irondequoit). The team (and coaches) are hungry to redeem our last second (five seconds to be exact) loss to Fairport.”
First game: September 1st at Rush-Henrietta at 3 p.m.

PENFIELD PATRIOTS (Class AA)
Last season record and finish: 7-5, lost in Class AA sectional semifinals to Fairport
Coach: Libbie Tobin (20th season, 190-116-39 career record)
Top returners: Eva Elliot Sr. D; Courtney Felton Sr. MF/F (All-County Second Team); Natalie Giunta Sr. MF/F (All-County Second Team); Alice Marchese So. MF/F; Kacie Salva Sr. D; Delaney Tellex Jr. MF/F (All-County First Team)
Top newcomers: Grace Alexander Jr. MF/F; Emily Hach Jr. D
Outlook: “Penfield returns a strong group of experienced players for the attack and defense,” Tobin said. “Up top, Felton and Tellex both have the ability to put pressure on the defense with their skill and speed. Giunta and Marchese are very technical in the midfield and keep the team connected. In the back, Elliot and Salva control the defense and are able to get forward. The league is highly competitive and we’re working to be ready for the challenges.”
Next game: September 1 vs. Greece Athena 6:30 p.m.
RUSH-HENRIETTA ROYAL COMETS (Class AA)
Last season record and finish: 5-7, lost in Class AA sectional semifinals to Hilton

Coach: Kent Brown (29th season overall, 21st season at Webster Schroeder, 283-169-70 career record)
