Ianniello and Plaisted claim weekly ICBL awards

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Nick Ianniello (SUNY Brockport) hurled a complete-game shutout. Jourdan Plaisted (Elmira College) collected three extra-base hits and produced 10 runs. The two were named Interstate Collegiate Baseball League’s (ICBL) Pitcher and Player of the Week (July 26-August 1). 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK (7/26-8/1)
Nick Ianiello, Cardinals/SUNY Brockport
Penfield High 
Ianniello scattered six hits in a complete-game effort. The right-hander struck out eight and walked two. He needed 93 pitches (65 strikes) for his first win of the summer. Ianniello worked out of two-on, no-out jam in the first before retiring nine of 11 batters between the third and fifth innings. He faced the minimum in two separate frames.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK (7/26-8/1)
Jourdan Plaisted, Monarchs/Elmira College
Gananda High 
Plaisted finished 5-for-11 in four wins for the Monarchs. The left-handed batter connected on two doubles and a home run driving in five runs and scoring five more as the Monarchs stretched their league-high win streak to seven games. 

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK (7/26-8/1)
Jacob Carroll, Monarchs
Churchville-Chili High
Carroll drove in three runs, stole a base and scored twice collecting four hits in four games. He also walked twice for a .600 on-base percentage in 10 plate appearances. 

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK (7/26-8/1)
Orioles
The first-place Orioles showed no signs of complacency banging out a league-high 18 hits in their regular season finale. Grant Rodriguez (Finger Lakes CC) collected three base raps leading six players with multi-hit nights. Jack von Ahnen (SUNY Brockport), Maxx Countryman (Finger Lakes CC), Nathan Yantz (Utica College), Henry Juan (Williams College) and Jorge Oropeza (Finger Lakes CC) had two hits apiece in the 15-7 win. Juan doubled and tripled. Countryman added a two-bagger while Yantz and Kennan Calenzo  also tripled in the game.
