The bottom third of the Rochester batting order led the Red Wings to a 7-4 victory over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at PNC Field in the last of a six-game series on Sunday.
Jakson Reetz capped a four-run fifth with a three-run homer, the Wings’ fourth long ball of the afternoon.
Luis Garcia hit a lead-off home run to start the game for Rochester. In the top of the second, 8-9 hitters Carlos Tocci and Jecksson Flores smacked back-to-back solo homers with two outs, for both players, it was their first home run as Red Wings.
Tied 3-3 in the fifth, Blake Swihart hit a bases loaded ground out to plate Jake Noll and Reetz followed two pitches later with a three-run shot. It was the second home run of the season for the catcher, hitting out of the seventh slot.
Tocci and Daniel Palka finished with two hits each, accounting for half of the Wings output in the game.
Rehabbing pitcher Tanner Rainey opened for the Red Wings and went two-thirds of an inning before scheduled starter Josh Rogers took over and evened his record at 5-5 on the season. Gabe Klobosits earned his second save pitching the ninth for Rochester.
The teams won’t see each other again until early September, also in Moosic, PA.
The Red Wings open a 12-game homestand on Tuesday with the first of six against Lehigh Valley.
