Friday ICBL Wrap: Van Bramer wins pitcher’s duel; Monarchs edge Ducks

Josh Van Bramer struck out eight and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Josh Van Bramer (Alfred State) gave up one run on five hits and two walks as the Ducks avenged a loss from the previous night.

The left-hander allowed one hit to the first 12 batters he faced. Logan Martella-Tasick (Mercyhurst University) capped a two-out rally in the third to give the Ducks all the runs they needed. DJ Stoianovich sparked the offense with a two-out double of his own. Zach Carpin (Clarkson College) and Dylan Mackenzie (SUNY Cortland) followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases. Martella-Tasick delivered with his fifth double of the season. Kenny Murphy (Finger Lakes CC) finished 2-for-2 in the win while Carlos Fantauzzi (Onondaga CC) and Vic Alongi (Genesee CC) added a hit apiece. 

Jake Dockum (Westminster College) doubled and plated Greyson McDonnell in the sixth with the Cardinals lone run of the game. Dan Tirabassi (University of Rochester), Bobby Sellers (Alfred State), Lucas Jackson and McDonnell had a hit apiece for the Cards. Nick Ianniello (SUNY Brockport) took the loss allowing two runs on six hits in a complete-game effort. The right-hander fanned nine. 

The Cardinals defeated the Ducks 15-7 on Thursday.

Jacob Carroll walked, stole a base and eventually scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as the Monarchs put together back-to-back wins. Carroll finished 1-for-2 on the night and scored two runs. Jagger Nucci (St. Bonaventure University) struck out eight over four innings of relief to pick the win. Jacob Parker went 2-for-2 with a double. Parker’s RBI single in the second helped the Monarchs to a 2-0 lead. Lucas Sulimowicz (Finger Lakes CC) and Frankie Fernandes collected a single, a walk and an RBI apiece in the win. Jaret Murray started and threw three shutout innings for the Monarchs. 

Dylan Mackenzie (SUNY Cortland) knotted the game at four for the Ducks with a two-out double in the sixth that scored Jordan Maher (SUNY Fredonia) from first. Carlos Fantauzzi (Onondaga CC) had a hit and drove in two runs. Zach Carpin (Clarkson College) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Logan Martella-Tasick (Mercyhurst University) singled and scored a run. Maher crossed home plate twice. Kenny Murphy (Finger Lakes CC) and Vic Alongi (Genesee CC) had a hit apiece.
