A shortened week (holiday and weather) didn’t slow Maxx Countryman (Finger Lakes CC) and Ryan Demitrovic (Alfred State). Countrymann nearly doubled his slugging percentage while Demitrovic picked up his league-leading third win of the season. The pair earned Interstate Collegiate Baseball League’s Player and Pitcher of the Week for June 28-July 4.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK (6/28-7/4)
Maxx Countryman, Orioles/Finger Lakes CC
Avon High School
Countryman finished 4-for-6 with two doubles, a grand slam, five RBI and three runs scored in a pair of wins. A member of Avon’s 2018 NYS Class C champion, Countryman produced half the Orioles’ runs in a 14-4 victory. He drove in five and scored twice in the win. Countryman started the week with a slugging percentage of .273 and finished at .536.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK (6/28-7/4)
Ryan Demitrovic Cardinals/Alfred State
RHP Churchville-Chili High School
Demitrovic struck out eight over four innings in the Cardinals 9-6 win over the Blue Jays. The right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and lowered his ERA to 2.63 (third in the ICBL among qualified pitchers). He is 3-1 on the season.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK (6/28-7/4)
Wilson Brauer
McQuaid Jesuit
Brauer fanned half of the batters he faced over three shutout innings to nab his second honor of the summer. He struck out six of 12 batters and scattered three hits. Brauer earned Pitcher of the Week for June 14-20.
