Friday ICBL Wrap: Cardinals win second straight; O’Mara’s gem sparks Blue Jays

Dan Tirabassi drove in two runs with a double for the Cardinals in a four-run third inning Friday

Jack Beauchamp (St. John Fisher) scored three times in four innings as the Cardinals won their second straight game. The visitors scored two in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly by Ben Beauchamp (Monroe Community College), scoring his brother and Dylan Boprey (Houghton) scored on a passed ball. The Orioles got their first run in the second when Gavin Moore (Alfred State) scored on an error. The Cardinals put up four in the third on a Boprey RBI single, Dan Tirabassi’s (University of Rochester) two-run double and a Jake Dockum (Westminster) RBI single. Beauchamp scored on a wild pitch in the fourth before Nick Ianniello (SUNY Brockport) homered in the sixth. The Orioles capped the scoring on a Jared Drake (DeSales) RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

Ryan Demitrovic (Alfred State) (2-1) earned the win on the mound, throwing four innings, allowing only two hits and striking out four. Dan Caverly (Finger Lakes Community College) pitched the final three innings for the Cardinals.

BLUE JAYS (4-3) 9
DUCKS (3-4) 1

Ryan O’Mara pitched five innings of one-hit ball striking out 10 for his first win of the season for the Blue Jays on the hill. The former McQuaid right-hander faced just 21 batters and lowered his ERA three points with the outing. Spencer Weyand (SUNY Cortland) and Dominick Ingram pitched the final two innings.

The Blue Jays entered the fourth without a hit and left with three hits and four runs. Tyler Curtis (Finger Lakes Community College) hit a double that drove in his Lakers teammate, Tanner Frank. Tim McClare (Finger Lakes Community College) scored on a passed ball, Curtis scored on an error and Nolan Hicks drove home Michael Beimel (St. John Fisher) with a single.

Hicks came up again in the fifth and connected on a two-run double to plate both Curtis and Frank and extend the lead to 6-0.

Jason Story (Utica) replaced Frank in the sixth and responded with an RBI single to score Jose Morales (Houghton) and Brian Oddi, Jr. singled home another to make it 8-0. Tyler Holmes (Hartford) tacked on a home run in the seventh.
