Casey Saucke II and Gage Ziehl both led their teams to the sectional final. Ziehl lifted Penfield to the Class AA sectional title. Christopher Sleeper led Rush-Henrietta in all major offensive and pitching statistical categories. Joseph Wintermute was the leader of an Irondequoit squad which advanced to the sectional semifinals.
The four seniors were named the Players of the Year as announced by Monroe County coaches.
Sleeper led his team in batting average (.450), total bases (53), base knocks (27), runs batted in (26), extra-base hits (14) and home runs (five) to earn Division I Player of the Year honors. The senior finished tied for first in doubles (seven), stolen bases (six) and triples (two) as well. Sleeper scored 18 runs, drew eight walks and was hit by a pitch. He produced an .883 slugging percentage and .522 on-base percentage.
On the mound, the West Virginia University commit sported a 2.02 earned run average in 27 2/3 innings and six appearances. He threw 303 of his 494 pitches for strikes and whiffed 29 of the 127 batters he faced. Sleeper only allowed 15 extra-base hits and opposing batters hit .144 against him.

Sleeper drove in five runs in two separate contests: on May 11th in which he compiled season highs of four hits and four runs scored in a 28-3 victory at Greece Olympia/Odyssey and May 24th in which he only needed one hit and one walk to cross the plate twice at Fairport.
Teammates Cameron Ritchie and Tobey Wright joined Sleeper on the Division I All-County Team. Wright was tied for first on the Royal Comets in doubles (seven), second in batting average (.381), total bases (35), hits (24), runs scored (19), extra-base hits (nine) and tied for third with Ritchie with 14 runs batted in. Wright added five stolen bases, a .556 slugging percentage and .473 on-base percentage. On the mound, he recorded 27 strikeouts in 16 2/3 frames.
Ritchie collected 17 base knocks in 56 at-bats (.304 batting average). Six of his hits were for extra bases (four doubles and a pair of triples) as he crossed the plate 12 times. Ritchie had 25 total bases, nine walks, two stolen bases, a .446 slugging percentage and .394 on-base percentage as well. On the bump, he sported a 4-2 record with a 3.63 earned run average. Ritchie added 27 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings as well.
Braden Pumputis, Michael Salina, Mathew Sanfilippo and Tyler Stack were named on the Division I First Team for Webster Schroeder. Pumputis sported a 2-0 record with a 1.54 earned run average in 22 2/3 frames. The senior southpaw whiffed 16 batters and picked off three baserunners as well. Salina led the Warriors’ rotation with five victories. The junior right-hander recorded 33 strikeouts and a 0.94 earned run average in 29 2/3 innings. At the dish, Salina hit .350 with one homer, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, nine swiped bags and four doubles.
Sanfilippo won three of his four decisions en route to 50 strikeouts and a 0.78 earned run average in 36 innings. This included a nine-inning no-decision against Hilton in sectionals. Stack contributed with a .387 batting average, eight runs scored, six doubles, five RBI, four walks and one triple.
James Capellupo, Tyler Cerame and Carter Clark represented Hilton on the Division I First Team. Clark paced the Cadets with a .383 batting average. The Siena College commit finished with a .467 on-base percentage, .600 slugging percentage, seven doubles, two homers and 21 runs batted in. Capellupo led with his arm and bat. At the plate, the sophomore infielder raked to the tune of a .375 batting average, .400 on-base percentage, .464 slugging percentage and five two-baggers. On the mound, the UMass-Lowell commit won three of his four decisions en route to a 2.53 earned run average. Cerame finished with a .360 batting average, .500 slugging percentage, five doubles, a triple, homer and a pair of wins on the bump.
Julien Mendoza and Matt Terzo made the Division I First Team for Fairport. Mendoza paced the Red Raiders in on-base percentage (.500), batting average (.449), hits (22) and RBI (12). Mendoza added eight swiped bags, seven walks, three doubles and a .510 slugging percentage. Terzo pitched in seven games and posted a 0.65 earned run average and 41 strikeouts in 32 1/3 frames. Terzo limited opponents to a .154 batting average as well.
Christian Brown was Victor’s lone representative on the Division I First Team. In 20 games, the senior infielder accumulated a .383 batting average and three doubles, one triple and one home run among his 23 base knocks. On the mound, Brown fanned 29 hitters in 36 1/3 innings over his nine appearances.
Devin Georgetti rounded out the Division I First Team for Gates-Chili. Georgetti led the Spartans in slugging percentage (.773), base knocks (34), RBI (33), runs scored (24), doubles (seven), triples (four) and home runs (three). Georgetti drew five walks and stole three bases as well. Georgetti paced the pitching staff with 85 strikeouts, 52 1/3 innings, four victories and a 2.01 earned run average.
Preston Prince and Michael Whelehan made the Division I Second Team for Hilton. Cameron Kingsley and Dylan Norton earned All-County Division I Second team honors for Fairport. Ian Meeks (Victor), Michael Ribis (Gates-Chili), Donevan Rotmans (Gates-Chili), William Tehan (Victor), Nicholas Thorpe (Webster Schroeder) and Alexander Touloupas rounded out the Division I Second Team.
Ziehl accumulated team-highs of a .718 slugging percentage, .554 on-base percentage, .438 batting average, 28 base knocks, 22 RBI and five home runs at the dish to earn Division II Player of the Year. On the mound, the University of Miami commit led the pitching staff with 91 strikeouts, five victories, a .079 opponents’ batting average and 0.17 earned run average in 42 innings. Ziehl crossed the plate 21 times, drew 16 walks, swiped seven bags and legged out three doubles as well.
Ziehl’s best game of the season was on May 26th against Webster Thomas in which he came in relief and accumulated 15 strikeouts in seven scoreless frames of two-hit ball in a 2-1 win in extra innings.
Nick Ianniello, Jack Josephson, Peyton Pace, Dom Porto and Nate Sobko joined Ziehl on the All-County Division II Team. Ianniello and Josephson both finished right behind Ziehl with four victories each in the rotation. Ianniello contributed a 0.81 earned run average, .176 opponents’ batting average and 22 strikeouts in 26 frames. Josephson had a 1.56 earned run average, 40 strikeouts, .186 opponents’ batting average and a pair of saves in 27 innings.
Pace held his own on the mound with a 3-2 record and a 2.82 earned run average in six games. Pace whiffed 32 batters in 27 1/3 innings. At the dish, Pace compiled 28 hits in 70 at-bats (.400 batting average), including five doubles, four triples and two homers, .671 slugging percentage, .476 on-base percentage, 20 runs scored, 15 RBI, seven walks and six stolen bases.
Porto posted a .342 batting average (25-of-73) with 25 runs scored, 21 walks, 13 RBI, five doubles, one home run, a .489 on-base percentage and .452 slugging percentage. Sobko hit .286 (16-of-56) with 10 RBI, four walks, two doubles, a triple, .388 on-base percentage and .357 slugging percentage.
Mitchell Kelly, Paul Sofinski and Garett Wilson made the Division II First Team for Webster Thomas. Kelly led the Titans with 33 runs scored, 29 base knocks, 27 RBI, 21 stolen bases, seven doubles, five triples, three home runs and a .705 slugging percentage. Kelly was tied for third in walks drawn (10) and fifth in batting (.372) as well. Sofinski finished tied for first in the rotation with five victories, was first with 41 1/3 innings pitched, second with 48 strikeouts and fifth with a 2.03 earned run average. Wilson was first on the team in walks (15), second in slugging percentage (.608), on-base percentage (.512), batting average (.406), hits (28) and RBI (19) and third in runs scored (17).
Alan Michael LeFrois and Cooper Romich represented Churchville-Chili on the Division II First Team. LeFrois led the Saints with a .426 batting average, one homer, seven runs batted in, five swiped bags and a .532 on-base percentage. Romich followed up with a .416 batting average, one home run, 12 RBI, six stolen bases amd a .595 on-base percentage.
Spencerport’s Devin Cannon and Brighton’s Ellis Einbinder were their team’s respective lone representatives on the Division II First Team. At the plate, Cannon collected 25 hits in 69 at-bats (.362 batting average), including a pair of doubles, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored, 10 walks, a .464 on-base percentage and .391 slugging percentage. On the bump, the senior pitcher finished with a 3.64 earned run average and 38 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings over nine appearances, including six starts. Einbinder led the Barons’ offense with a .383 batting average, .471 on-base percentage, four dingers, 21 runs scored and 16 RBI. The junior centerfielder posted a .959 fielding percentage with 46 putouts as well.
Tommy Rebis rounded out the Division II First Team for Greece Olympia/Odyssey. Rebis led with a .364 batting average, 12 hits, 10 RBI, eight stolen bases, seven runs scored, three doubles, two dingers and a .696 slugging percentage. Rebis added four walks, a triple and .432 on-base percentage.
Max Heil, Ian McNabb and Colby Wilson earned Division II Second Team honors for Webster Thomas. Shaun Cannon (Spencerport), Frank Grad (Spencerport), Nolan Krautwurst (Greece Olympia/Odyssey), Troy McPherson (Brighton), Zach Miner (Churchville-Chili), Shane Pray (Churchville-Chili) and Benjamin Rosenbaum (Brighton) rounded out the Division II Second Team.
Wintermute completed a balanced offensive season for Irondequoit (.406 batting average, .458 on-base percentage, .609 slugging percentage, 26 hits, including three doubles, two triples and two home runs, 15 runs scored, 13 runs batted in and seven walks) to earn Division III Player of the Year. He held his own on the bump as well with a 4-2 record, 2.15 earned run average and 49 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings.
Wintermute’s best game of the season was the sectional quarterfinals against Eastridge in which he launched a solo blast and hit a pair of RBI singles. He had six strikeouts in four scoreless frames of two-hit ball as well.
Nicholas Calarco, Jaleel Davis, Brody Froman, Connor Gresens, Connor Springer and Brian Tisa joined Wintermute on the All-County Division III team. Calarco and Tisa both finished tied for fifth on the team with 20 base knocks. Calarco recorded a .385 batting average, .475 on-base percentage, .423 slugging percentage, 12 runs scored, seven RBI, seven walks and two doubles. Tisa legged out team-highs of seven doubles and two triples as well as crossed the plate 19 times, drove in 10 runs, drew seven walks, posted a .333 batting average, .429 on-base percentage and .517 slugging percentage.
Davis crossed the plate 23 times (first on the team) along with a .338 batting average, .398 on-base percentage, .378 slugging percentage and 25 hits, including one double and a triple and seven RBI. Froman led the Eagles with a .457 batting average, a .512 on-base percentage, 32 base knocks, including four doubles and one triple, was second with 22 runs scored and 13 runs batted in and third with a .543 slugging percentage.
Gresens drove in a team-high 27 runs plus a .349 batting average, .427 on-base percentage, .413 slugging percentage, 22 hits, including four doubles, seven runs scored and seven walks. Springer drew 12 walks (first on the team), had a .333 batting average, .444 on-base percentage, .386 slugging percentage, 19 base knocks, including three doubles, 14 runs scored and nine RBI.
Tyler Henshaw and Devyn Scheidt made Division III First Team for Brockport. Henshaw. Scheidt led the Blue Devils with a .437 batting average, .506 on-base percentage, 31 hits and 19 runs scored. He drove in 14 runs and had a .436 slugging percentage as well. Henshaw led the pitching staff with a 5-1 record, 2.39 earned run average and 56 strikeouts in 41 innings. At the dish, he banged out 16 hits, including two triples and one double, crossed the plate 13 times, drove in 10 runs, recorded a .405 on-base percentage and .350 slugging percentage.
Daniel Mariani and Brady Miller earned Division III First Team honors for Pittsford Mendon. Miller paced the Vikings’ offense with a .404 batting average, .451 on-base percentage, .468 slugging percentage, 19 hits, including a double and triple, 14 runs scored, 10 RBI and four stolen bases. Mariani led the rotation with a 5-1 record, 2.04 earned run average and 35 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings.
Greece Arcadia’s Jacob Tsymbal rounded out the Division III First Team. Tsymbal led the Titans with a .476 batting average, .767 slugging percentage, 19 RBI and 11 runs scored.
Nicholas Johnson and Patrick Kiesow earned Division III Second Team honors for Brockport. Brendan Kane and Daniel Palumbo made the Division III Second Team for Pittsford Mendon. Joey Bognanno (Canandaigua), Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua), Aaron Ford (Greece Arcadia) and Chris Moroz (Canandaigua) rounded out the Division III Second Team.
Saucke posted a .483 batting average. He collected 21 extra-base hits including eight home runs and five triples for a 1.207 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.862 to garner Division IV Player of the Year. He scored 36 runs and drove in 24. The University of Virginia commit also swiped 20 bases in 20 attempts. In nine innings of work on the mound, the right-hander struck out 16 and walked one.
Victor Alongi, Aleksander Englert, Terrence Kurtz, Jaden Madrid and Connor Osier joined Saucke on the All-County Division IV team. Alongi and Kurtz were the team’s one-two punch on the mound combining for 10 wins. Alongi went 4-1 with a save and recorded a 1.02 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 34 1/3 frames. Kurtz was 6-1 with a 2.87 ERA and 51 strike outs in 39 innings.
Englert collected 17 hits, 12 runs scored, 15 RBI, seven doubles, a .410 on-base percentage and .413 slugging percentage. Madrid led the Trojans in hits (29) and stolen bases (26 in 26 attempts). The sophomore infielder was second in batting average (.397) and runs scored (28) while collecting six doubles and nine RBI. He finished with an on-base percentage of .482 and slugging percentage of .507. Osier had 17 hits including four doubles and three home runs. The freshman finished with a 2-0 record on the mound, a 2.41 ERA and 25 strikeouts.
Keeghan Cummings, Jackson Newlands and Jack Zawacki made the Division IV First Team for Pittsford Sutherland. Cummings led the Knights in batting average (.458), on-base percentage (.543), hits (27), runs scored (25) and was third in slugging percentage (.508). Newlands posted a 3-2 record with a 1.26 earned run average and 40 strikeouts in 39 innings. Zawacki tied with Ethan Hurwitz for the team lead in runs batted in with 16 and doubles with six.
Keenan Calenzo (Eastridge), Alex Hale (Batavia) and Brian Reinke (Honeoye Falls-Lima) rounded out the Division IV First Team. Calenzo led the Lancers in batting average (.450), on-base percentage (.515), slugging percentage (.533), hits (27), runs scored (15) and walks (seven). Hale guided the Blue Devils’ offense with a .386 batting average, .471 on-base percentage, .591 slugging percentage, 17 hits, 10 RBI and seven doubles. Reinke paced the Cougars in batting (.435), getting on base (.559), hits (20), runs scored (15) and walks (11). The University of Richmond commit finished 3-1 on the mound. He struck out 45 and walked 19 in 25 innings of work. Opposing batters hit .121 against the southpaw.
Jacob Fekete, Ethan Hurwitz, Nicholas Provenzale and Alexander Renzi earned Division IV Second Team honors for Pittsford Sutherland. Xavier Carbonel and Reece Joint were named to the Division IV Second Team for Honeoye Falls-Lima. Jesse Reinhart and Luke Rogers earned Division IV Second Team honors for Batavia. Eastridge’s Noah Bowens rounded out the Division IV First Team. Bowens led the Lancers in doubles (four), was second in hits (17) and slugging percentage (.433), third in batting average (.321), on-base percentage (.410) and runs scored (seven).
Jason Bunting (Greece Athena), Joe Kuhn (Irondequoit), Kevin Neenan (Webster Thomas) and Matt Knight (Webster Schroeder) were named Coach of the Year for their respective divisions. Neenan and Knight both led their squads to the top seeds in Class A and AA, respectively. Neenan guided the Titans to the sectional championship as well. Bunting coached the Trojans to their second consecutive sectional final appearance. Kuhn was part of an Eagles squad which won 16 games and advanced to the Class A sectional semifinals as the No. 2 seed.
