Honeoye Falls-Lima started the Class C girls lacrosse final on a 7-0 run and cruised to a 19-7 victory over Newark-Midlakes, locking up the Cougars’ 12 Section V girls lacrosse championship and their ninth straight.
Sophomore Clare Ruff scored two of those first seven goals and junior Whitley Easton, who has committed to Mercyhurst, earned MVP honors with eight goals and five assists in the semifinals and finals combined.
The Regals cut the lead to 9-4 in the first half before the Cougars went on a 4-1 run heading into the break.
It was the first meeting between the teams, since this is the first season Newark and Midlakes have had a combined team.
HF-L finishes the season winners of four of their last six games and finishes with a 9-9 record.
