History 101: This is the second time in the last three seasons these teams match up in sectionals. Batavia defeated Newark, 51-14, in the 2018 sectional quarterfinals. After winning the sectional title, the Blue Devils defeated Cheektowaga (VI), 56-28, in the NYS Far West Regional and Skaneateles, 54-49, in the state semifinals before falling to Glens Falls (II) in the state final. Newark is seeking its first sectional win since October 25, 2013 when it defeated Penn Yan, 30-14, as the No. 2 seed in the Class B quarterfinals. The Reds fell to eventual champion Geneva, 22-14, in the semifinals.
