Jacob Zimmerman accumulated four touchdowns to lead Spencerport’s 56-7 road victory at Webster Thomas. The 5-foot-8 senior replaced Cameron Mesh as the starting quarterback and scored at all three levels with two rushing touchdowns, a touchdown pass and a pick-six. Zimmerman split his touchdowns between the first and third quarters as well.
Zimmerman led the Rangers to a quick start with 21 points in the opening period. On their first drive of the contest, the senior quarterback opened the flood gates with a 59-yard strike to Jacob Lindenmuth.
After the defense forced a three-and-out, Zimmerman scored his first of two rushing touchdowns courtesy of Khalize Beamon and Connor Mesh. Mesh started the possession with a 46-yard sprint. After the offensive line recovered a misplayed snap, Beamon and Mesh split eight-yard runs. That opened up a six-yard sneak past the left pylon for Zimmerman.
Zimmerman put an exclamation point on his performance in the third quarter. With the defense forcing yet another three-and-out, the 5-foot-8 senior galloped through the line of scrimmage and up the left side for a 60-yard touchdown.
Finally, with the Titans attempting to put together a scoring drive and threatening in Rangers’ territory, Zimmerman jumped the passing lane and hustled 53 yards in the opposite direction to the end zone. This gave the Rangers a commanding 49-0 advantage midway through the third quarter.
Beamon, Mesh and Samuel Guelli added rushing touchdowns of their own. Beamon only needed one play to burst through multiple defenders and find paydirt for an 80-yard score. Mesh had a 22-yard touchdown with two and a half minutes left in the second quarter. Guelli capped off the scoring with a seven-yard score in the final period.
Through five games, the Rangers have outscored their opponents, 183-25. The defense hasn’t allowed double-digit points in a single game as well.
For Webster Thomas, junior quarterback Eli Adams broke the shutout with a one-yard sneak near the end of the third quarter.
Both teams complete the regular season on Monday and on the road. Spencerport (5-0) takes on Wilson Magnet at Franklin High School at 5 p.m. Webster Thomas (1-4) visits Penfield for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
