Part of the Rochester basketball community for more than three decades, Gerard Iglesia has always provided a helping hand to others. Now the longtime coach is need of assistance.
Suffering from kidney failure, Iglesia awaits a kidney transplant. He has been in the Intensive Care for nearly three weeks and will need extensive rehab after the operation. A GoFundMe account has been established for the family.

His wife, Karen, has been unable to continue tutoring – the couple’s source of income – since Iglesia was admitted to the hospital earlier this month.
The Iglesias are well-known as Prime Time Ballers. Once an AAU team, the couple has since transitioned the platform into a means for promoting local student-athletes.
DAY 16 in ICU; @IglesiaGerard laid many foundations and planted many seeds. The most important is passing the ❤️ for 🏀 to @_AnthonyIglesia who will one day be a coach himself. This is @TylerRelph10, one of the best trainers who mentors Anthony. TYLER/ANTHONY 585 CAMP. pic.twitter.com/yZRCCv7pXI

Iglesia’s summer camp has been in existence for 15 years. Free to the public, the camp has become a mainstay in the Rochester basketball community and has recently spawned the efforts of the Iglesia’s son, Anthony, and Tyler Relph in a separate clinic.
DAY 17 ICU; @IglesiaGerard started his FREE BASKETBALL CAMP over 15 years ago, providing FREE camps for over 1800 🏀 players at no cost. Players received a week of 🏀, cooked meal, guest speakers such as @StarburyMarbury over the years. Let’s continue to pray for him. pic.twitter.com/RaEFPhTgj1
