In his first career varsity start, senior quarterback Michael Adams finished 7-of-13 passes for 109 yards and four touchdowns to lead Eastridge to a commanding 29-6 first-half advantage and the victory. Eric King led the ground game with 101 yards on 16 carries. A’mir Proctor compiled 75 rushing yards, 47 receiving yards and caught a touchdown. Both of Marc Gray’s receptions came in the end zone for a total of 23 yards. Senior linebacker Noah Bowens posted nine tackles, including seven solos and four assisted.

IRONDEQUOIT (1-0) 49
Nicholas Calarco hurled three touchdown passes in the first half as Irondequoit surged to a 42-0 lead and the season-opening victory. The senior quarterback connected with Darius Turner twice – once in each quarter. Calarco threw his other touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Jaleel Davis for a commanding 21-0 advantage eight minutes into the contest. Overall, Calarco completed 8-of-9 passes for 172 yards. Davis scored on the ground as well after senior linebacker Jacob Godfrey recovered a fumble. Sophomore quarterback Erik Barr put the Eagles on the board with a 17-yard rush touchdown and hit Mekhi Christensen for the first pass of his varsity career – a 47-yard catch-and-run – to cap off the first half scoring. Senior running back Talib Smith found the end zone in the final period. For Gates-Chili, junior tailback De’Marion Mewborn broke the shutout with a third-quarter score. Senior defensive end Andrew Newcombe recovered a fumble on fourth and goal in the second period.

For Greece Olympia/Odyssey, senior wideout Luke Strong hauled in seven receptions for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Junior defensive end Xavier Jones led the defense with seven tackles, including two for a loss.

Raykim Chenier galloped for 177 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns as UPrep rolled to a shutout victory in its first game participating in Class A. Freshman quarterback Sincere Burroughs threw for 64 yards and scored two touchdowns – one through the air to Brandon Lucas, Jr. and the other on the ground. Shaeed Smith blocked a punt and returned it 12 yards to the end zone. Defensively, Sharod Watkins led with 12.5 tackles, including 4.5 for loss, and a sack. Lucas accumulated 9.5 tackles and a pair of sacks. JaQuincy Bostick picked off a pass and recovered a fumble.

For Penn Yan/Dundee, Mekhi Mahan exploded for 216 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries. The senior running back’s three scoring runs added up to 187 yards, including an 81-yard scamper on his second touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Earl Carter went 8-of-17 for 66 yards. Mahan led the defense with 16 tackles. Sophomore linebacker Nick Slavick followed up with 10. Damien Snyder contributed eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

Alex Panepento accumulated 121 passing yards, 62 rushing yards and two touchdowns as the Class C sectional runner-up won its season opener via shutout. The senior quarterback threw both touchdown passes to Cody Lytle, who hauled in three receptions for 46 yards. Senior running back Nate Andrews recorded 60 yards through the air and 32 yards in the trenches. For Dansville, junior running back Evan Pruonto led with 43 yards on seven carries. Senior tailback Ryan Carnevale had 32 yards and Logan Young 31. Billy Barrett scrambled for 24 rushing yards and led the defense with nine tackles. Carnevale and Gus Swyers both posted four tackles. Swyers had a sack and Carnevale a pass deflection. Andrew Morrow swatted two passes of his own.
