One team is looking to win its second straight sectional title. The other is making its first appearance in the finals this century. Reigning champion East High and Monroe County Division IV representative Honeoye Falls-Lima will meet Saturday to decide the 2021 Section V Class A2 Boys’ Basketball Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

Current streak: East High has won five straight. Honeoye Falls-Lima has won four of five.
How they got here: East High defeated No. 8 Pittsford Sutherland, 70-56, in the quarterfinals before downing fourth-seeded Greece Athena, 80-60, in the semis.
Honeoye Falls-Lima defeated Monroe by a 58-49 score in the quarterfinals and took down Eastridge, 58-40, in the semis.

History 101: East High is making its third consecutive Class A2 sectional final appearance and seeking its second straight title. Last season, the Eagles defeated NE Douglass, 69-60, and fell to Pittsford Sutherland, 53-49, in 2019. This is the third straight year the Eagles finished as the top team in Class A2 and second straight time they face the No. 7 seed in the championship. The Eagles have won 25 sectional titles in program history. Honeoye Falls-Lima is seeking its first sectional title in program history. The Cougars have advanced to the sectional final three times in the school’s 52-year history: 1989, 1993 and 1999.
A 6 p.m. tip off is scheduled at East High School.
