Top 25 Wrap: Dosunmu and Illinois take down Iowa at home; Two former Section V stars square-off

Kofi Cockburn grabbed an offensive rebound with 2.6 seconds remaining that sealed the win. The rebound came off his own miss at the free throw line on the front end of a one-and-one; Cockburn preceded to make two free throws in a row. Ayo Dosunmu scored a game-high 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting for Illinois.

Trent Frazier had a season-high 24 points alongside four rebounds. Jacob Grandison recorded his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Fighting Illini’s starting five scored 69 of the teams 80 points.

Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp were a one-two punch for Iowa each scoring 19 points. Garza shot 9-of-18 alongside four rebounds, and Wieskamp went 6-of-13 from the field including five makes from beyond the arc. Connor McCaffery was the only other Hawkeye in double-figures with 11 points.

Miles Brown (Northstar) and Ohio got the better of Jeenathan Williams (UPrep) and Buffalo in a battle of two former Section V standouts. Brown finished with three points, two assists and one rebound off the bench. Williams totaled 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting. The junior grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists and collected one steal.

YOUNGSTOWN STATE (8-9) 75
Noah Waterman (Finger Lakes Christian) finished with 10 points in the win on efficient 4-of-5 shooting. Waterman connected on two threes and grabbed four rebounds while logging 24 minutes.
