Isaiah Stewart (McQuaid Jesuit) played 21 minutes off the bench, and the Detroit Pistons defeated the reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, 107-92 Thursday night.
Stewart scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds to go with one block in the win.
The 6-foot-8 rookie center converted on all four of his free throw opportunities and connected on 2-of-6 shots from the floor. He grabbed three offensive rebounds and three on the defensive end.
Stewart, who corralled six offensive rebounds in 15 minutes of action Wednesday night, averages 5.5 boards per night.
Blake Griffin paced Detroit with 23 points. Mason Plumlee grabbed 10 rebounds. Griffin and Wayne Ellington finished with a +23 on the night.
The loss was the second straight for the Lakers. LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma scored 22 apiece for Los Angeles.
Detroit plays at Golden State on Saturday night.
