Trailing 3-0 at one point, RIT used six power-play opportunities to trim the deficit, but came up short to Robert Morris for a second day. The Tigers had the momentum, but a rogue third period goal from the Colonials put the game just out of reach for RIT.

With the net empty, Jake Hamacher registered RIT’s final tally on the man-advantage with 35 seconds remaining in regulation. Jake Joffe and Dan Willett gathered assists on the scramble.

RIT held a major advantage in shots and offensive puck possession from midway through the second to the final horn. The Tigers had more than enough chances to even the score throughout the game, yet could not

Goaltender Noah West maintained the Robert Morris lead with 34 saves in the contest. The freshman denied 57-of-61 shots faced over the two-game weekend.

RIT managed to outshoot Robert Morris 20-6 in the second period with the spark of a 5-minute major and a game misconduct.

Robert Morris grabbed an early 1-0 lead on Matthew Guerra’s second of the year. Gavin Gulash picked up the assist.

Grant Herbert doubled the Colonial lead 1:40 into the second on an unassisted effort. He currently leads the team in points with 14. Nine minutes later, Randy Hernandez capitalized to make it 3-0.

Nick Prkusic scored the game-winner on assists from Hernandez and Guerra to open scoring in the third period.

RIT’s first of three matchups against the (3-1) Canisius Griffins will be Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Canisius College. Puck drop set for 7:05 p.m.
