Spencerport and Our Lady of Mercy are both seeking an eighth sectional title in program history. The Lady Rangers and Monarchs will meet Thursday to decide the 2020 Section V Class A Girls’ Soccer Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Spencerport opened sectional play with a 5-nil win over No. 9 seed Greece Athena in the quarterfinals. The Lady Rangers continued with a 3-1 semifinals victory over fourth-seeded Brighton. Our Lady of Mercy defeated Aquinas, 2-1, in the first round and took down reigning sectional finalist Pittsford Mendon, 3-2, in the quarterfinals. The Monarchs continued with a 2-1 semifinals win over sixth-seeded Churchville-Chili.

History 101: Spencerport is seeking its fifth consecutive sectional title and eighth in program history. Our Lady of Mercy is seeking its eighth championship in program history as well and first in nine years. The Monarchs won sectional titles in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2008 and most recently in 2011.
