One team is making its third sectional final appearance in five years. The other is seeking its fifth championship in the last nine years. Naples and Geneseo will meet Thursday to decide the 2020 Section V Class C2 Boys’ Soccer Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Naples took on Bradford/Dundee in the quarterfinals and won, 3-1. The Big Green continued with a 2-nil semifinals shutout of No. 4 seed Kendall. Geneseo has shut out all three of its sectional opponents: 2-nil over Marion in the first round, 1-nil over Caledonia-Mumford in the quarterfinals and 2-nil over Bolivar-Richburg in the semifinals.

History 101: Naples is making its third sectional final appearance in five years. The Big Green fell in the Class C2 finals in 2018 and Class D1 championship in 2016. Geneseo is seeking its 10 sectional title in program history and fifth in the last nine years. The Blue Devils won the Class C2 championship in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018 and finished as runners-up in 2010, 2012 and 2017.
A 2 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Naples High School.
