Hornell and Greece Olympia will meet in sectionals, Wednesday, for the third time in four years. This time the two schools will decide the 2020 Section V Class B1 Girls’ Soccer Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Hornell beat No. 6 seed Greece Odyssey, 4-0, in the quarterfinals and second-seeded Newark, 4-1, in the semifinals. Greece Olympia beat ninth-seeded Livonia, 2-1 in the first round and then advanced through the quarterfinals via forfeit. The Lady Spartans continued with a 2-1 semifinals win over No. 4 seed Batavia.

History 101: This will be the third time in four years that Hornell and Greece Olympia match up in sectionals. The Lady Spartans defeated the Lady Red Raiders, 1-nil, in last year’s semifinals. The Lady Red Raiders beat the Lady Spartans, 3-nil, in the 2017 Class B2 quarterfinals. Greece Olympia is the reigning sectional champion and advanced to the NYS B semifinals last season.
A 6 p.m. kickoff is scheduled at Hornell High School.
