Monroe County Division II action gets started with one game on Friday, and a full schedule on Saturday. Here are the previews for Brighton, Churchville-Chili, Gates-Chili, Irondequoit, Spencerport and Webster Thomas:
BRIGHTON BARONS (Class A
Last season record and finish: 6-10-1, lost in sectional quarterfinals to Churchville-Chili
Coach: Adam Hiller (100-57-14 career record)

Outlook: “We’re a young team with some key senior leaders returning. How well the first-time varsity players mesh with returners will be the key to a successful season.”
First game: October 10th at Gates-Chili at 12 p.m.
CHURCHVILLE-CHILI SAINTS (Class A)
Last season record and finish: 11-6-1, lost in sectional semifinals to Greece Athena
Coach: John Mahoney (11th season, 104-62-15 career record)
Top returners: Luke Abraham Sr. D/MF; Caleb Bailey Sr. MF/F; Alex Blondale Sr. F; Noah Donner Sr. D; Gaven Egan Jr. MF
Top newcomers: Moises Arrendale So. MF; Holden Hewlett Jr. GK; Adam Polito Sr. D/MF
Outlook: “With seven returning starters and one of the best players in the area (Gaven Egan), our outlook should be pretty good. We are returning experienced players all across the pitch. We’re looking forward to the year.”

GATES-CHILI SPARTANS (Class AA)
Last season record and finish: 4-13, lost in first round of sectionals to Webster Schroeder
Coach: Jim Vanderhoof (Fifth season)
Top returners: Tiq Ghulami Sr. MF; Dominic Lippa Sr. D; Marshall McRae Jr. MF (2019 All-County Division II selection)
Outlook: “After losing a number of players, Gates-Chili will look to gain some momentum with a young, yet hard-working team. The senior leadership brings out the best in a group of guys that have played together for a long time. Expect fast counter-attacking and high pressure from a very fit team.”
First game: October 10th vs. Brighton at 12 p.m.
IRONDEQUOIT EAGLES (Class A)
Last season record and finish: 5-12, lost in sectional quarterfinals to Greece Athena
Coach: Thomas Gillett III (27th season, 12th varsity season)
Top returners: Josiah Claudio Jr. MF/F; Bryan Friedel Sr. D/MF; Josh Ludolph Sr. GK
Top newcomers: Jonathan Ceysaire Sr. MF; Justin Connor Jr. MF/F; Nevlyn Harper Jr. D/MF; Carraig Jones Fr. F; Glodi Mata Jr. MF/F
Outlook: “We will be young, but have a bit more skill than last year’s team. A tough divisional schedule means that we play against Spencerport, Churchville-Chili, Webster Thomas, Gates-Chili and Brighton, which means every game is against quality opponents.”

SPENCERPORT RANGERS (Class A)
Last season record and finish: 14-3-1, lost in sectional semifinals to Greece Arcadia
Coach: Jody Wyant (Second season)
Top returners: Sujan Rajamohan Jr.; Vince Ranieri Sr.; Jacob Schlierf Sr.; Patrick Uebelacker Sr.
Outlook: “We are thankful that this season is happening and can’t wait to get on the field. Whatever success we have, we’ll cherish because we didn’t think a season would happen.”
First game: October 9th at Irondequoit at 5:45 p.m.
WEBSTER THOMAS TITANS (Class A)
Last season record and finish: 10-5-2, lost in Class AA sectional semifinals to Fairport
Coach: Steve Grose (19th season, 180-114-19 career record)
Top returners: Isaac Buckley Sr.; Wyatt Dutro Sr.; Taner Goren Sr.; Nick Harrington Sr.; Brendan Hill Sr.; Zach Wolfe Sr.
Top newcomers: Cole Hastings So. D
Outlook: “We have seven returning starters, including 90% of our scoring. We’re strong up the middle and have potential to go far into sectionals.”
