In 2016, Jones had 45 tackles, including a season-high seven on three separate occasions (September 24 against Duke, October 29 in a 30-27 win over Miami (Florida) and November 26 at Southern California). Jones has been on the practice squad for seven NFL teams, including the Buffalo Bills.
