ICBL Tuesday: Griggs, Harter lead Flyin Fish barrage; Bermudez, Meyers power Snow Cats rout

Tyler Griggs (Central Arizona) and Zach Harter (Finger Lakes Community College) combined for six base knocks, four runs scored and three RBI to lead the Flyin Fish attack. Griggs contributed to a pair of big innings. He opened the scoring with an RBI triple as part of a six-run opening frame and capped off a five-run fifth with a run-scoring single. Harter collected one of his three singles in the second when he drove in Griggs for a commanding 7-0 advantage. For the game, both Griggs and Harter went 3-for-4 at the plate. Griggs drove in a pair of runs and crossed the dish three times. Harter recorded an RBI and a run scored.

Luke McNamara (Rochester Institute of Technology) and Nate Sanderson (Hilbert College) both recorded two hits in three at-bats. McNamara collected two RBI and a run scored. Sanderson had an RBI and scored a run as well. Ryan Ballard, Michael Jamele (Merrimack College), Tristian Murray (Cazenovia University), Keith Van Dyne (Houghton College) and Sam Werth (Alfred State College) all posted a base knock apiece. Ballard’s lone hit was a bases-clearing single to cap off the first inning. On the mound, Jake Humes and Chris Sleeper (West Virginia University) combined for five scoreless frames of one-hit ball and six strikeouts. For the Cardinals, Drew Bailey (Mercyhurst University), Nicholas Nealon (Niagara County Community College) and Santino Rosso (Hofstra University) each collected run-scoring singles as part of a four-run sixth inning. Drew Delaney (Slippery Rock University) hurled two frames of one-run ball in relief.

David Bermudez (Rider University) and Branden Meyers (St. Bonaventure University) powered the Snow Cats offense from the top of the batting order. Both players provided key at-bats in big innings. Bermudez ignited a five-run third by being hit by a pitch, swiping a bag and scoring on a single by Meyers. Meyers crossed the plate on Garrett Bell’s (Ithaca College) two-run double later in the inning. Bermudez and Meyers capped off a five-run fifth with back-to-back run-scoring hits. Bermudez drove in Zach Morrison (Finger Lakes Community College) with a double and scored on a Meyers single for the second time. For the game, both players went 2-for-4 at the dish. Bermudez doubled, tripled, had an RBI and scored three runs. Meyers singled twice, drove in a pair of runs and crossed the dish twice as well.

Seven different players recorded one hit apiece: Bell, Ryan Blackall (Rochester Institute of Technology), Lachlan Charles (Cornell University), Nick Franceschi (Cayuga Community College), Gil Merod (Ithaca College), Buzz Shirley (Ithaca College) and Mark Trotta (College of William and Mary). Shirley’s lone hit was a two-run shot to cap off the third inning. On the mound, A.J. Gartland (Alfred State College) hurled four scoreless frames of one-hit ball with five strikeouts. For Diamond Pro Green, DJ Stoianovich accounted for the lone run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Keenan Calenzo and Tanner Degrazia recorded one base knock apiece.
