Greece Odyssey senior Korey Canton increased his batting average, runs scored, hits total and RBI last season. The SUNY Fredonia commit went 20-of-57 (.351 batting average) from the dish with eight RBI.
Seven of the 20 hits accounted for extra bases (six doubles and a triple). Canton scored 11 runs and stole a pair of bases last year as well. With seven seven walks, the senior infielder produced an on-base percentage of .409.
On the mound, Canton sported a 4-2 record and fanned 58 of the 182 batters he faced in a team-high 43 2/3 innings. He allowed just one extra-base hit on the season, and opposing batters hit .288 against him.
In the Class B1 sectional quarterfinals, Canton hurled a complete game shutout on 90 pitches, allowing four hits, three walks and striking out six.
Last summer, the senior infielder played in the Upstate Baseball League (UBL).
