Prattsburgh junior Kris Johnson was the second in scoring on a Vikings squad that notched their third sectional title in five years. In 20 games played, the 6-foot forward scored 246 points (12.3 PPG), corralled 96 rebounds (4.8 RPG), handed out 32 assists (1.6 APG), swiped 25 steals (1.3 SPG) and swatted seven shots.
Johnson shot 46 percent (107-of-232) from the field, including 52 percent (91-of-174) from inside the arc.
Standout performances by the junior forward this season included 18 points and five steals on January 29th in a 70-53 win at Jasper-Troupsburg, nine points and six assists in the sectional semifinals against Romulus, 13 boards on January 17th at Notre Dame Batavia and 24 points and 10 made field goals on January 31st at Avoca. In the sectional final, Johnson delivered 13 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Vikings to a 72-64 win.
Last spring, Johnson played AAU for Locker One. With the graduation of leading scorer Mason Putnam, Johnson will be featured in a prominent role with classmate James Crowder.
