Section V Boys Soccer announces All-Decade Team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Section V boys’ soccer teams won 37 regional and six state titles during the decade of 2010-2019. Six different players earned All-American selections heading a lengthy list of All-Regional and All-State performers. The coaches of Section V voted and here are the top players of the last 10 years divided into large and small school squads.

SECTION V 2010-19 LARGE SCHOOLS ALL-DECADE TEAM

JORDAN ALLEN Aquinas: Played two years at Aquinas scoring 16 goals and adding nine assists his sophomore season before joining the U.S. Soccer Federation’s Under-17 Residency Program at Bradenton, Florida. Allen eventually played one season at the University of Virginia where he was named to the ACC All-Freshman squad in his only college season. He enjoyed a six-year MLS career with Real Salt Lake City appearing in 50 matches in which he scored four goals and added four assists. Allen represented the U.S. at the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

JUSTIN ARILOTTA Hilton: A three-year starter for the Cadets, Arilotta earned Ron Zorn Large School Player of the Year honors as a senior as well as AGR Player of the Year and Second Team All-State in leading Hilton to the 2018 Class AA title. A two-time All-County performer, he was also named to the East Region team and All-Tournament squad. Arilotta recently completed his freshman season at SUNY Geneseo.

BRANDON BIANCHI Spencerport: A 2011 All-American selection, Bianchi led Spencerport to back-to-back sectional titles in 2010 and 2011. An All-Region and All-State choice in 2010, Bianchi earned first team all-state in 2011 and was twice named first team AGR. A two-time Monroe County Divisional Player of the Year, he finished his career with 34 goals and 20 assists and led the Rangers to back-to-back divisional titles. Bianchi continued his career at Roberts Wesleyan College.

JONATHAN BROWN Canandaigua: A second team All-State and All-Region performer his senior year, Brown was named 2016 AGR Co-Player of the Year.  He scored 60 goals and collected 16 assists for the Braves. Brown was named Monroe County Division II Player of the Year and First Team AGR as a junior. Recently completed his junior season at Johns Hopkins University collecting four goals and three assists.

HUNTER CRITCHLOW Fairport: An All-American selection and AGR Player of the Year in 2013, Critchlow led Fairport to an undefeated regular season, sectional title and appearance in the NYS Class AA final. A four-year varsity performer, he was twice named All-State, earned All-County honors three years and also garnered All-Region. He played two years at SUNY Fredonia before completing his career at Hobart and William Smith where he was named First Team All-Liberty League as well as All-East Region second team.

PETER CRITCHLOW Fairport: A 2016 All-American selection, Critchlow helped Fairport to three sectional titles and three state final appearances. The 2016 AGR Co-Player of the Year, Critchlow collected 21 goals and eight assists his senior season when he was named first team All-State. Recently finished his junior season at Hobart and William Smith College where he made 19 starts this past fall. As a sophomore, he led the Statesman with 10 points and four assists.

SEAN LOUCKS Webster Schroeder: An All-American, Ron Zorn Large School Player of the Year and AGR Player of the Year in 2012, Loucks scored 22 goals and had 10 assists in leading Webster Schroeder to its third straight sectional title and second consecutive appearance in the NYS semi-finals. A three-year varsity performer, Loucks netted 10 goals during his junior campaign. He was also named First Team All-State his senior year.

SAM O’CONNOR Brighton: A 2018 All-American, first team All-State and first team AGR selection, O’Connor led Brighton to the Class A title and a spot in the NYS semifinals scoring 11 goals to go with four assists. He also earned Monroe County Division III Player of the Year. A first team All-County choice his junior year, O’Connor became the first Brighton Baron in more than two decades to earn All-America. Recently completed his freshman season at the University of Rochester.

DYLAN RICE Greece Athena: Recently completed his junior season at Athena, Rice is a four-year starter for the Trojans. He has been a part of two sectional champions earning 2019 All-American honors when he scored 20 goals and added 15 assists leading Athena to the NYS Class finals. A three-time All-County performer, Rice was named Ron Zorn Large School Player of the Year and first team All-State in 2019.

ANTHONY ROZZANO Webster Schroeder: A 2011 All-American selection as well Large School and AGR Player of the Year, Rozzano led Schroeder to its second of three straight sectional titles and a spot in the NYS Class AA finals. Rozzano scored 29 goals his senior season and finished with 40 in his career. He went to play four years at the University of Albany where he made 64 starts collecting four goals and seven assists.

ALEC SWANGER Penfield: A Monroe County Division I and AGR Player of the Year, Swanger scored 19 goals and added 13 assists to help Penfield to a share of the 2010 Class AA title. He earned fourth team All-State honors that year. A four-time all-conference performer, Swanger finished his career at the University of Rochester with 19 goals and 13 assists. He earned second team All-University Athletic Association his senior year.

SECTION V 2010-19 SMALL SCHOOLS ALL-DECADE TEAM

THOMAS BINKOWSKI Bath-Haverling: A two-time first team All-State performer, Binkowski led Bath-Haverling to back-to-back sectional titles and the program’s first appearance in the NYS semifinals in more than 20 years. The Jeff Farnsworth Small Schools Player of the Year recipient, Binkowski scored 31 goals and 18 assists in 2019 and finished with 68 goals and 56 assists for his career.

TRAVIS DeLYSER Marion: Two-time Wayne County Player of the Year and first team AGR selection, DeLyser established Marion single-season records with 22 goals and 16 assists. He led the Black Knights to the 2010 Class C title and finished his career with 67 goals and 37 assists.  DeLyser went on to play at Monroe Community College.

JUSTIN EATON Williamson: A three-time All-State performer including third team in 2018, Eaton finished his high school career as Williamson’s all-time scorer with 88 goals and 47 assists. A two-time Wayne County Player of the Year and four-time All-League performer, Eaton led the Marauders to three league championships and one sectional finals appearance. Recently completed his first season at Alfred University where he scored three goals and added one assist.

ADAM ENDERS Belfast: Section V’s all-time leading scorer, Enders was named Jeff Farnsworth Small School Player of the Year as a senior when he collected 36 goals and 15 assists. He finished his career with 143 markers. Enders led Belfast to consecutive finals appearance including 2017 when the Bulldogs won their first sectional title since 2009.

TOM FERLAND Williamson: Part of three sectional champions, Ferland was a first team All-State and AGR performer his junior season when he scored 18 goals and added nine assists for a Marauders’ squad which advanced to the NYS Class C semi-finals. Ferland earned third team All State and second team AGR as a senior when he shared the Section V lead with 30 goals.

ANDREW FREEMAN Livonia: A five-year varsity performer, Freeman was a part of three sectional champions and one NYS Class B co-champion. Livonia advanced to three straight NYS semifinals and went 59-3-3 during that stretch. A two-time All-State selection, Freeman also garnered Jeff Farnsworth Small Schools Player of the Year back-to-back seasons and Livingston County Player of the Year three years in a row. A three-time AGR selection, he anchored a Livonia defense which allowed just eight goals in the 2013 season. He finished his career with 23 goals and 24 assists.

TOYI HAKIZIMANA World of Inquiry: A three-time first team AGR and All-State selection, Hakizimana scored 29 goals and added eight assists to lead WOI as an eighth grader to the Class C1 sectional title and a spot NYS finals. Two years later, Hakizimana scored 30 goals to with 11 assists when the Griffins repeated as C! champs and advanced to the NYS final.

MIKE JACKSON Bath-Haverling: A three-year varsity starter, Jackson was part of three sectional champions. He garnered first team AGR honors his junior and senior seasons. He also was named Livingston County Player of the Year and first team All-State. Jackson was named Livingston County first team three years.

AYUB JEYLANI World of Inquiry: A four-year varsity performer, Jeylani led WOI to four straight sectional titles. He scored 23 goals and added 14 assists his senior year to earn AGR Player of the Year and third team All-State. Jeylani earned first team AGR and fourth team All-State as a junior when he scored 28 goals and had five assists.

LEVI LAWRENCE Alfred-Almond: A 2015 first team All-State performer and Jeff Farnsworth Small Schools Player of the Year recipient, Lawrence paced Alfred-Almond to three Steuben County Division I titles compiling a league record of 22-0 during that stretch. The Eagles won 33 straight regular season games during that time. He anchored the 2015 Alfred-Almond defense which allowed just eight goals on its way to a Class D1 sectional title and the NYS semifinals. Lawrence scored 13 goals and added two assists that year.

JAKE ZITO East Rochester: A five-year varsity starter, Zito led East Rochester to a share of the 2010 Class CC title. That Bombers’ squad advanced to the NYS semifinals. He earned first team AGR and All-State that season. Zito finished his career with 48 goals and 72 assists. He was a three-time Wayne County first team performer.

ALL-DECADE TEAMS OF THE PAST
