EAST ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Brandon Gray scored eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter, including two game-clinching free throws, as East Rochester defeated Clyde-Savannah, 72-68, Thursday night.

The senior forward tied the game at 63 apiece with a left wing three-pointer as part of a 6-0 run. Gray connected a foul shot and Dion Mather made a free throw line jumper as well.

“At first, my shots weren’t really falling, but my teammates kept pushing me to take those shots,” Gray said. “Just so happened that when it really counted, I knocked it down.”

After Clyde-Savannah knotted the game, Chuck Domm made back-to-back layups to give East Rochester a two-possession cushion. Brandon Gray iced the contest with a pair from the charity stripe with 3.1 seconds remaining.

“Just stayed poised and all,” Gray said about the game that featured 12 ties and 12 lead changes. “Just do our game, really. We’ve been practicing for moments like these and we came out tonight and executed.”

“We try to put him in situations in practice where he’s got to make them and we try to put pressure on him,” Bombers head coach Patrick Walsh said about Gray. “I wasn’t as nervous because I just know that we’d been preparing.”

Chuck Domm finished nine layups and banked in a mid-range jumper as part of his team-high 23 points.

“He’s our biggest player,” Gray said about the junior center. “Just give him the ball. We saw the mismatch early in the first half.”

“Chuck’s a good athlete,” Walsh said. “He was a stud on the soccer field. All-Greater Rochester soccer player. He’s got that mentality where he wants to perform at the highest he can.”
