Returning most of their main core from last year’s team who won 22 games and advanced to the sectional final, the East High Eagles have started this season with five double-digit victories, including two last week. On Wednesday evening, Darrell Barley’s squad overcame a slow start to surge past a School of the Arts team that returned their entire starting lineup. Zechariah Harris-Scott led three players in double figures with 24 points and five blocks. The Eagles continued their strong start with a 101-77 victory over Monroe in their home opener behind Harris-Scott’s 22 points and 11 rebounds. Harris-Scott has compiled 106 points through five games (a 21.2 PPG average). The Eagles have three games slated this week: Tuesday evening at Early College, Thursday night at Wilson Magnet and Saturday afternoon against Randolph (VI) in the Bishop Kearney Christmas Showcase.
